The Car conundrum, what to buy.

The two trucks can haul dirt bikes. Or mtbs.
Get something fun. You don't have kids in the house anymore. If I didn't have to haul three kids around I already would own a Corvette (I tried to buy a white C5 from my best friend's dad earlier this spring).
If I could find a decent priced Challenger, I'd sell my Liberty and squeeze my three kids in the back tiny seat while they're little

If I didn't have kids I'd probably be rocking some NB's, white socks, jorts and a Vette. If I wanted newer and less expensive I'd go with a Challenger.

I would agree with the sell big truck and buy 1/2 ton idea you mentioned until you said F-150. I assume that means Egoboost which is no bueno. I thoroughly enjoyed driving a halfie.

My last vote is a JL 4xE just because those are neato!

1) Buy a fast/fun car, Mustang, Camaro, 370Z, WRX something fun. I've always had utility vehicle and always wanted a fast car.

Fast is usually fun (it is for me, anyway), but how wild do you need to go? In other words, there is always someone else on the road who spent more money than you and can go faster than you. Based on that fact, I'd suggest you begin by coming up with a reasonable target as far as speed capability is concerned, and then don't overshoot it.

As most of you know, I daily drive an '88 Corvette. This is a TPI 350 which was rated for all of 240 horsepower (and 335 lb-ft of torque), which means I am not the fastest car on the road... and I decided up front that I would be fine with that. I could have bought a newer C4 with the 300-horsepower LT1 (or even a 1996 C4 with the 330-horsepower LT4), but I chose to stick with an earlier TPI car so I could have the fully digital instrument cluster--that was a big part of the appeal to me, and I love having it.

I just ended up with an Option 1 car myself. :) 1999 Corvette checked off a lot of "fun" criteria boxes for me, at a lower price than many other fun cars.

If I didn't have to haul three kids around I already would own a Corvette (I tried to buy a white C5 from my best friend's dad earlier this spring).

If you want more performance, the C5 Corvette is an incredible bargain. For relatively little money, you get damn near supercar performance. On top of that, I am the first person to admit that the C5 Corvette is a better car than the C4 Corvette in virtually every way--it is easier to enter/exit, it is more solidly built, it rides and handles better, it gets significantly better fuel economy, it is more modern with newer technology either standard or at least available, etc. On top of all that, you'd never be tempted to LS swap it since the factory already did that for you. ;)

If I had wanted the best all-around performance car value, I would have bought a C5 instead. But since I was after some specific nostalgia, I went with my C4.

Standard trans 5.0 Mustang has been pretty high on the list. The 4th gen Camaro's are also pretty reasonable. Now I'm looking at C5 vettes. I agree with Dempsey, these are a fantastic value.

Does that come with bedazzled jean shorts?
C8's come with a Lions not sheep shirt, a cotton candy vape and the pants with doily's on the rear pockets.

Come on, is this for reals the people buying them? I want one bad, but not if those would be my friends.
That’s who I see driving all the lambo’s. I was hoping it would be a more based and conservative set of people. Like me 😉

Since you're concerned about how people perceive you while your diving, just think of this: Joe Biden owns a Corvette.;)
Live on the edge and pick up a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. No one will think you're a senile old man, no one will confuse you with their lesbian neighbor, you won't be like all the other dorks on your street buying a mid-life crisis Mustang, no one will know what it is, it'll start conversations, its faster than the Mustang or Corvette, handles like a rally car, and you only maybe might have to replace head gaskets and timing chains every 30k miles...

Regular cab F-150 with the 5.0 and a huffer.

I've often thought about taking a 1/2 ton Silverado 4x4, lowering it just a touch, adding some 20" wheels and low profile tires, big F & R anti-sway bars (needed for Nürburgring, dontcha know), and putting a factory GM supercharger on the LS under the hood.

Still a truck but sporty, 4WD for Winter and would surprise the cocky little Ricer boys and carve up a windy canyon road like a sports car.

One of my best friends had a Dodge Stealth (same thing) in high school. Did you know it seats six? A couple people just have sit in the trunk with the hatch open. The school cop would just shake his head when we'd leave for lunch like that.🤣 Different times.

"Her" car is a '22 Forester and while I like the car and am physically attracted to women, I feel like the wrong gender of person attracted to women to drive a Subaru wagon.

This makes perfect sense. When I was in my late teens and early twenties I KNEW I was an atheist lesbian trapped in a Mormon mans body and I drove a Subaru and loved it.
