I was leaving school and just as i left the intersection i dropped my driveline. I fixed it that night and it drove fine after that...but about 3 days later it just started shaking really bad when i hit about 20 mph and does not stop the faster i drive, but it only shakes when i accelerate and when i decelerate.:ugh: It does not shake when i put in the clutch or when i am driving slower than 20. Any ideas as to why this is happening or how to fix it? Please help me out!

what model jeep is this that we are talking about? you might have broken the transfer case output shaft and its just sitting there for the most inoperaton time to fall apart... or it could be when your driveline dropped it bent.. did you replace both ends of the u joints? or just one side?

driveshafts that are unbalanced bad will only vibrate bad under acceleration. My guess is your weights fell off but more likely is your driveshaft was bent when you dropped it. Best bet would be to pull it off and take it to 6 states. They will check it for like 50 bucks and can even straighten them if its not to bad.

Cheaper way to check would be to jack up the rear and put it on jackstands then throw it in drive and look at your driveline spinning. If its bent you should be able to see it. Please be safe about it if you use this method and keep us posted

Good luck

its a '92 YJ and i did replace the rear yoke and it continued to do it so i am just confused. i will probably check the balance of the drive shaft and check to see if it is bent. also when it dropped it broke the bolts that strap it onto the rear yoke. so i will keep everyone posted...thanks!

so i took my driveline out and drove it in 4 wheel drive, and the shaking went away. so i started inspecting my driveline to see if anything was wrong or what i could notice, and i found that one of the retainer clips on the front u-joint came out. which i guess it loosened up and wobbled, so i fixed it and it drives smoothly!! thanks guys, you got me to double check and confirm that it was the driveline. so thanks!!
