Friday was a beautiful day here, brisk at 33 degrees but sunny and very little wind. Not much happening on the work front, so my daughter and I went fishing. I was wishing I was duck hunting, there were so many birds wanting to land where we were. It was great.

The fishing was pretty slow, but this made up for it. Measured at 26" and 14" girth. Sweet rainbow. These don't come along very often. He's still in there for another day.

Last week was so much fun we headed out again today. It was warmish, no complaints.

We only caught 3 fish, 2 for me and one for my buddy. But..............................

The first one was 25" long and 15.5" girth to put it at 7.5lbs. It is a beautiful rainbow.

After realizing we forgot our phones in the truck, I waded/ran/fell back to the truck as fast as possible to get a phone to take some pics while my buddy kept the fish in the water breathing until I returned.

Then, a few dozen casts later I hooked and landed this brown trout at 25" long, 15" girth and 7.25 lbs.

This kind of luck doesn't come to me often. Needless to say my friend was not happy watching this happen, so I quit casting and let him go to town. It took some work, but he made a great cast and..............................

This rainbow came in at 24" and 15" girth weighing about 6.75 lbs.

Winter is not the time to put the fly rod down and just tie.

No fish were killed in the making of this event!

Another great day, for my notes/record.
Scott's
1 @ 24" and 14.5" girth
1 @ 23.5" and 14" girth

The snow is really piling up here. It was 17 degrees when I got out of the truck. It cooled off after that by a few degrees. Reel was frozen on every fish I brought it. It's funny to watch me keep it tight stripping it in, while dipping the reel in the water to loosen it up enough to use the drag. They pull/fight hard.

A couple of great days on the river the last week. Full disclosure the second day, last Friday was about 24 and 30 mile per hour wind. It sucked, but I had driven 1.5hrs to get there, so we fished for six freezing hours. It was great! That river produces the darkest rainbows I have encountered. They are super charged too, normally they jump 3-4 times while landing them. 20230324_120808.jpg20230324_140138.jpgIMG_4010.jpgIMG_3953.jpgIMG_3951.jpg

Great looking fish! I always love fishing from a boat at Strawberry you can tell within a few seconds if you have a cutt or a bow on the end of the line because the bows fight so much harder.
