I'm on evening 2 of PRK. The procedure was painless. I watched a person do PRK right before me and it looked rough with all the scraping which made me a little anxious... but I felt nothing at all.
It did burn a bit after they put the contacts in but once the numbing drops took hold again no problem.

Still a tad blurry today as expected. It's a different blurry though, like shit in my eye blurry. I randomly get very clear views then just back. So far pretty happy, excited for it to heal up.

If you have to do PRK instead of LASIK, I'd still definitely recommend it so far! My corneas were on the thin side so they recommended PRK over Lasik for me.

Day 5 update: Yesterday SUCKED. Vision was blurry close and far all day long, very painful in the morning for a few hours. Most any amount of light was pretty painful caused me to tear up badly. Basically I wasn't able to do anything at all for a majority of the day except sleep which was probably good since I need that sleep. I was honestly pretty worried yesterday... but later in the evening things started settling down and the pain mostly went away.

This morning I woke up clearish (cloudy) but no pain, exepct after about 2 hours of being awake I had some slight burning for an hour. Today I can finally sit in front of a computer for a bit and get some things done, but not for too long. Yesterday I couldn't even look at my phone for longer than 5 seconds so that's quite the improvement.

Tomorrow I get the bandage contact lenses out. :)

I'm on day 22 of LASIK recovery. For the most part, it has been relatively uneventful. There have been a couple days where one eye or the other would hurt. Kind of like someone was pushing on it. My vision has fluctuated, but the last few days has really seemed to stay on the really good side. I do see halos around lights at night. Lights have a soft glow around them. Almost like looking at a light in the fog. Still would totally recommend it.

It'll still fluctuate and be mostly bad for a while. I'm at week 10 or so and I still fluctuate a little, but its MUCH better!

I'll be 3 weeks this thurs. I can see pretty damn good now! Seems to be improving daily as well. Very happy so far.

As stated in the old man thread, many of us seem to be experiencing vision issues. I have had to wear my glasses more and more over the last 5 years. I decided to go have a consult at Hoopes this week. They suggested PRK with Mono, so my non dominant eye would be tuned for near and my dominant for far.

It's not cheap, $4900, but would be super nice to be able to see iron sights and be able to tell a softball sized rock from a tennis ball sized one at speed.

They seem to have a good reputation, just wanted to see if any of you dudes in my ward have used them and if you were satisfied.

The one thing I remember was that everybody working there was wearing glasses... that fact didn't hit me until later

I did PRK and had it redone a few years late, under "warranty" because it had slipped quite a bit. I still recommend it to people often but also tell them what the staff told me: almost everyone needs readers when they're in their mid-40's regardless so if you're trying to fix that, don't.

I still technically test at 20/20 but my eyes take longer to focus and my night vision is getting pretty sh*tty -they said both of those are normal with age too.

We went to a few different places until we found the one that we liked best.
We went to Hoopes, but didn't use them.

My cousin did use Hoopes. and wishes he didn't. His vision is better enough to not use glasses, but not good enough to NOT need them either.. so he doesn't wear them and has bad vision. When he tried to get it redone or refunded, Hoopes said they did it good enough.

We went to Eye Institute of Utah. Tina had ICL done.

That's where I had mine done, probably 20 years ago. I've noticed over the last couple of years that my vision isn't as good, but very happy with them. I messed up on the fact that if I had been thorough with annual vision checkups with them, they would have basically warrantied their work.

Well, one of the main things I want is to not wear glasses driving at night, what a pain. They told me the same thing about readers but doing the "mono" vision was a way to push that back a little while.

I had my PRK done at the Utah eye center in Ogden. My regular eye doctor is there, and I had a friend recommend them for lasik. I went from blind as hell to 20/15. I've always had glare at night, and that did get slightly worse. For me it was completely worth it. My cost was $3100 out the door. Lifetime warranty if my vision ever gets worse than 20/40. As long as I have a yearly checkup.

I had PRK and mono done several years ago at Hoopes. No complaints here. I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Just make sure you don't get a headache from mono. I wore only one contact for a week to ensure I could do it. YMMV...

I had EVO ICL done this year by Brock Hansen at Utah Eye Center.
It was expensive, I think I spent $5900, but the results were fantastic.
My prescription wandered a bit over the last few years and this procedure stabilized it.
I found the personal touch significantly better than Hoopes and Lasik vision center who both turned me a away when I found out I was neither a candidate for LASIK nor PRK.
Better results and I've got UV protection built in now lol.

I would 100% recommend ICL. I have better than 20/20 now and I used to be -8 in one eye.

What's ICL? I've gotten a consult for Lasik and was told I was not able to do it because of a thin Cornea. Haven't gotten checked for PRK yet though as money is needed elsewhere.
