The Ski/Snowboarding thread

Bringing this old thread back from the dead. The season is almost here. Do we still have any people in the group that ride?

I did a snowbasin pass and ikon base pass again this year. If anyone is interested in meeting up to ride together this season post up.

I typically skip Saturday because of crowds but would be totally willing to meet up on Saturdays with others. Other than that, I ride pretty much every Sunday and my schedule is pretty flexible for week days also but I typically have to hit the van up every few hours for a little bit to catch up on emails and work stuff.

I’m tempted to head out this week and go hit A basin for a few days for some crappy early season snow.

I got out on the board a couple times last year. I need to get out more this year. No season pass for me, I'll probably be headed up to Nordic Valley most times I go.
Feel free to hit me up if you want company. I usually hit Nordic a few times a season with friends. It’s cheap and I like the vibe there. Also I have a handful of 50% off basin passes and 25% off ikon resort passes.

I don’t snowboard much these days but that would be a great reason to bust it out too.

Too expensive too many people too much traffic. Thanks Utah tourism board and Olympics
This is why I drive up to Nordic Valley. $20-30 passes, most days, and the atmosphere was incredible before the barn burned. I haven't been since but I hope they try and recreate that feel.

The couple times I went last year was weekdays and passes were under $20. For anyone that only gets out a handful of times a year and isn’t looking for big mountain runs Nordic is the place.

They also do a killer after school program for kids. I enrolled my kids in it for a handful of years even when they had season passes to other resorts just because it was a great value to get some time with an instructor.

My 11 y/o is doing Snow Blitz this year. It's $450 and I'm freaking out that he picked snowboarding instead of skiing because I'm concerned he'll quit due to the difficulty.

I miss my days of riding at the Canyons. Free the first year, $60 the second, $80 the third etc etc etc. The most I paid for a pass was in college and it was still only like $200. Now you have to make portal axle money $$$ to go snowboarding so I do night-boarding at Brighton once every handful of years and it sucks. Night-boarding sucks.

I think he will do great those Brighton instructors do a fantastic job with kids.

And for anyone else interested in getting kids involved, the Nordic valley afterschool program is about half the price of the ski blitz but transportation is not included so you have to get your kids up there.

Snowbasin pass holder here. Wife, kid, and I typically go Sundays.

My kid has ski classes on Sunday this year, my wife usually hangs for half the morning until she heads to the lodge to relax and I’m running all over the place until my kids classes end.

With pass prices going up again, we got the passes with the holidays windows blacked out. Too many people to deal with anyways.

I’m there most Sundays too if you want to meet up ever.
