Hm... i need the exercise. I was thinking of a marathon ride: potato hill to anns to rush. Repeat 3 times.

Id rather shuttle maple hollow. Can you handle steep downhill?

I've never done a dedicated DH trail like Maple Hollow, and I'm not sure I should. I'm a cautious rider and I'd probably be a menace to other traffic on the trail. I don't mind tech riding or steep drops, but any trail that requires railing or stunting is too much for this gorilla.

Also, I could never do Potato->Rush 3 times. I ran out of time the other morning and didn't make that loop once. FAT guys on bikes, I said. :)

I definitely fit in the FAT category, but I guess I like to push it a bit more than most people. I'll be up there tonight. Say hi if you're in the area.

Steve doesn't know what he's getting in for, but we're gonna meet at the Potato Hill trailhead on Traverse Ridge at 530. Anybody is welcome, and it'll definitely be a no-drop ride.

Marc asked for a new thread to coordinate. Then I remembered that I already tried this a while back, so I'm copying his post over here and bumping it up.

I'm posting up to hold myself accountable. I'm taking the bike to the 500S Bountiful/Legacy Hwy trail at about 4:45 pm. I'll ride for probably 15-20 min and then collapse putting the bike back in my truck . Work from home is rough on my "fitness". I need a fix. This is a shot. I'm trying to go out at least 3-4 times per week. Winters a good time to start biking, right?

If you're up for riding with an out of shape dude, I'll catch you there. I plan to go south from the parking lot and then struggle back.

I haven't even tried to put a bike in my Gladiator. Do they fit in the bed? I had a '76 shortbed Chev when I first started hauling the pedal bike to college and it fit with room to spare. Worst case, I can get the F350 fired up (a bit of a challenge with the colder temps) and utilize the 8' bed.

We have tentative plans to meet for a ride this weekend, if the weather is reasonable. I'll let him decide where after he gets a few more pavement miles under his belt this week.

Any one is welcome to join us, or use this thread to plan your meet ups, whatever. The only rules are, you have to be willing to ride with fat guys, and you have to have fun. No exceptions.

What's your bike, Marc? I remember you saying something a while back about it being a an older hybrid/ATB thing?

It's a Mongoose Hill Topper I bought to go to college at the U in 1994. Definitely nothing to brag about or do anything texhnical on. @Gravy and I rode around Bountiful pond. As we got on the road, my hands could barely hold the bars

For now, I'm just a flat lander for the most part. Don't do a boring ride on my account. I'm just in it for the 20ish minutes of exercise

Look a little something like this? It's a little dated but that's actually a rad bike. It'll handle a little dirt just fine and if you ever decide to get rid of it please let me buy it from you.

That’s still too far away to know. Haha

Realistically I just need to get the stupid sunroof fixed on my ferd

I do want to get some pedaling in though. We will see

Sun roofs... I'm out on a truck with those. It's kind of funny seeing salesmen reactions when I'm looking at a truck and we figure out it has a sunroof. I bail right there. "You're more interested in this XL rather than this Platinum????"

Best of luck with the sunroof. They can be a project.
