Greetings, fellow investors. Calendar year 2024 is drawing to a close, so it's time once again to assess the performance of our portfolios and see how we are tracking relative to our individual goals.
According to Seeking Alpha, the S&P 500 is up by 23.97% for the year to date. My 401k and HSA accounts saw similar gains (up +26.17% and +29.48% respectively), which is no surprise since they are invested entirely in large cap US market index funds. Good news there.
My Roth IRA is another story.
I wasn't able to add
any funds to it whatsoever until just a few weeks ago, when I finally scraped up $700 to contribute. Needless to say, this put a large dent in my dividend growth for the year.
End-of-2023 average monthly dividend income: $224.21
Goal for end-of-2024 average monthly dividend income: $290.00
Actual end-of-2024 average monthly dividend income: $255.11
Just like last year at this time, once again I find myself
not sitting on a large stockpile of cash that I can deposit into my account on January 1st. On the plus side, we can contribute for the 2024 year until April 15th 2025... so I am planning to dump my March bonus and any tax return money into my IRA before that date. Hopefully it will help me reach my goal of $315/month average monthly dividend income for the end of next year.
How are the rest of you guys doing?
