    Memorial Weekend in Moab

Anybody interested in Pritchett on either Saturday 27th or Monday 29th? I have to do the Tails n' Trails run on Sunday, but I'm itching to try the new mod's on Pritchett.

Tails n' Trails, Moab May 28th

Just thought I'd let everybody know about a fun trip for a good cause that Moab Friends-For-Wheelin' has scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. It is an easy run to Dellenbaugh Tunnel and Secret Spire, and then Tusher Tunnel after lunch. We will be serving a great lunch. There is no charge for the...

    BFE cleanup

I'd also like to say thanks to Jeremy for everything he has done at BFE. The place is looking good! In addition to the cleanup and brush burning, we also cleared and marked Helldorado, Minor Threat, and Green Day, and blocked illegal bypasses. Hope we can help again soon! Jeff

    Winch anchors on Pritchett

The anchors are 1.5" solid bar stock, with a 3/8" x 4" +/- flange. They are installed using a drilled hole and industrial epoxy. The anchor diameter is too big for most winch hooks, but a tree-saver strap or chain can be wrapped around them.

    Winch anchors on Pritchett

The original and official route is up the steps (the route on the right side as you come to it). The bypass appeared a few years ago, and is now as well established as the original. There is a good chance that some "buck and rail" fencing will be installed, along with signage, sometime in the...

    Winch anchors on Pritchett

Just an FYI... There are now winch anchors installed in Pritchett canyon, just above Rocker Knocker, the top of the nasty little hill just before RockPile, and the top of Yellow Hill. Should help with safety, and NO MORE REASON TO TAKE THE "BYPASS" AT ROCKER KNOCKER.

    U4WDA Winter Convention

Badger - Thanks for posting the awsome pics! Hope everybody had a great time. Thanks to U4WDA for asking us to host this year's Convention. Also thanks to trail leaders Jerry and Lucy (Strike Ravine), Jim and Mary (7-Mile / Wipeout), and Holly (Fins and Things), Kevin, Mike and Wendy (cookout...

Jeep Safari 5 year permit and EA

Not their event!? Who pays thousands of dollars each year for permits and insurance? RR4W. Who organzies dozens of trail runs for each years event, and provides the leaders and gunners for those runs? RR4W. Who spends an entire year preparing for each EJS? RR4W. When the Chamber of Commerce was...

Jeep Safari 5 year permit and EA

Kurt, thank you very much for the time and effort you are taking to answer all of the questions and comments that are being asked. I wish I had the time to answer them all myself, but between work and other committments (for example, I just spent all evening at a meeting with the Nature...

Jeep Safari 5 year permit and EA

There has been a lot of good discussion on this topic, both for and against exclusive and one-way use. As a RR4W member, I was involved in bringing this about (as well as attempting to convince the club to move the date), and as such have spent a lot of thought, time and effort on the matter...

    moab area bfe

Like Kirk said, Green Day is fun, I'd probably rate it about a 4, but there are lots of optional obstacles and climbs off it that would rate higher. Helldorado is definately a step above, tougher than any of the 4+ Safari trails, but doable in a well set up trail rig. Expect some body damage...

Jeep Safari EA comment period ; Letters needed!

Well said, Todd. Rick, I have asked you in other threads why you have never been a part of RR4W. I lobbied very hard to change the date of EJS last year. The meeting when the vote took place was probably the best attended meeting I have ever seen. In fact, some members actually paid past-due...

Jeep Safari EA comment period ; Letters needed!

I'm assuming that you are refering to the RR4W as the "self pronounced gods of Moab"... If I am wrong, I apologize, if I am right, then my only comment is we are glad that you will not be back to EJS in the future. That is a topic for another thread. Here is one good reason why you should...

Jeep Safari EA comment period ; Letters needed!

The BLM has published its EA (Environmental Assessment) for the RR4W Jeep Safari 5-year permit, which expires at the end of this year. Whether you are an EJS fan or not, it is imperative that we all write to the BLM supporting Alternative A, which basically grants the permit as requested...

    Strike Ravine Trail

Strike Ravine is a nice trail, most of it probably on the easy side of a 4. With a small group and no problems, you should be able to run it in 3-4 hours. It goes through Area BFE... lots of fun stuff there!

    4x4 Club ideas

Informal "clubs" are great if you just want to get a group together for some wheelin or a BBQ. We have an email list of people here in Moab just for that reason. There are over 30 names on the list, and we have runs 2-4 times a month. Usually, between 6-12 rigs show up on any given run. A...

    Wheel question for Zuks.

With 2" backspacing and 33" BFG Muds on stock axles, my wife's sammi would just barely touch the springs. We were using YJ springs.

    Moab- La Sal Mountains

Kurt, what day were you up there? We went up last Saturday (July 23rd) with about 10 rigs. Went up La Sal Pass to Medicine Lake, then back home over Geyser Pass. Great way to beat the heat! Jeff

    Pritchett Canyon - Please Read!

Cody, when you saw it, the county had not finished. It is now a smooth road. The tall ledge on the right at the bottom has been totally removed. Grandma could do it in her Buick. We may not like it (I've said that from the begining), but it WILL NOT force people into the WSA, it WILL improve...
