when I rebuilt my 22RE three years ago I went with the factory Toyota clutch. No problems after 3 years of wheeling, even with 40" tires. I have read that alot of people are happy with the heavier flywheels...might be something to look at like richpblaze said.

Look at your VIN tag on the driver's side door jamb. As I posted above my '88 4Runner with the 22RE has a 5,080 lb. GVWR. I would be willing to bet that your 4Runner is over 4,500 GVWR...if that's what the tag says then you can be 26". Like Shawn said, the actual weight of your rig is...

The GVW on the tag on my '88 4Runner is 5,080 lbs, so I can be 26" instead of 24". IIRC the GVW on my '85 Toyota Pickup was 4,850, which made it legal at 26" also, so his 4Runner is probably good for 26" unless the VIN tag says otherwise.

How about those of us that trailer our rigs, should we unload at Tibble Fork and cruise down the main road to the ranger station, or is there a trailer parking area there at the ranger station? Just don't want to get hassled for driving my rig on the paved road.
