    99 CTD Auto tranny---need a new one. ?'s

I'd have it checked out before writing it off as totally shot. I drove a 2001 CTD truck that is owned by an excavator that works for me the other day, and his did the same thing. I drove it probably 10 miles or so, and I was able to get it to shift out of first by driving in drive, shifting to...

    5:29 Gears for Toyotas

DO NOT GET GENUINE GEARS!!! I've broken them in my 4Runner...been running Yukon 5.29's ever since and never had a problem. Lifetime warranty on Genuine Gears is junk in my opinion...do they pay to tow your broken rig off of the trail? How about to set up the new gears? How about your time to...

Need mechanic reccomendation for 2000 F250

Might be something as simple as worn out shock bushings. My brother had some bad ones on his truck and it seemed to have a feel similar to what you are describing. I would recommend Wide Open Performance in Sandy. They've always been straight up with me.

    Don't Like Hearing The Truth

Yeah, I would say first, try to work it out with the shop that screwed up. Get some kind of commitment in writing as to when they will have the work complete. If they are unwilling to step up and make it right then I agree with Attilia, post up the name of the shop so that no one else gets...

    Who has CTD

'99 24V Cummins, Quad Cab Longbed with Edge Comp Box, gauges, 35" tires, turbo cooldown timer. Just passed 102K on the stock auto tranny (keeping fingers crossed for a few more years).

    Toy IFS 4WD Problem

It's probably the vacuum actuator in the front axle. My wife's '91 4runner has a vacuum disconnect on the third member, there should be two vacuum lines running to the differential. Probably didn't get hooked up when the previous owner swapped the motors.

    Moving a Shed

I used a hi lift on each front corner of mine, and a genie lift on the back to lift mine up enough to set it on my trailer rails. The hi lifts actually weren't that bad, but i guess having them at all 4 corners might be a little scary. The logs sound like a good option if you don't want to use...

    Drivelines

Yup, another vote here for Gaylon's. I've had them build or modify at least 7 or 8 drivelines for me over the years. I have yet to break one or to have a bad experience with them. Great prices, and things are done when they say they will be done.

SL Trib Editorial: Jeepers ruin spring break?

I think I found Mr. Freshwater's email address(I'll post it here if it turns out to be a valid email address). Here's the response I just sent to him: "Dear Mr. Freshwater, I feel the need to write in response to your editorial letter written to the Salt Lake Tribune entitled “Dangerous...

    Cliffhanger. Whats the word?

I was on Cliffhanger on March 6th, it was definitely easier than it used to be. Several of the fun spots have been filled in with dirt. Still a fun trail, but more like an easy Sunday afternoon trail than the 4 - 4+ trail that it used to be. I did 95% of the trail in 2 wheel drive in my 4Runner...

Q about Pritchett & Behind the Rocks

Yep, done this the last couple of times that I did Pritchett. Maybe a mile or so after Yellow Hill the road splits - the right fork takes you out to the county road, the left fork takes you to Behind the Rocks. Last I was there (first weekend in March) there were a few signs showing which way to...

where to get a kit for my tranny (cummins)

Go talk to Zane at Wide Open Performance (801)233-1111, 8585 South Sandy Parkway, Sandy, Ut. He knows a heckuva lot about diesel trucks...it would be worth at least getting his opinion on what your options would be. Tell him Nic (Jinx) and Darrell (DToy) sent you.

    EJS Police Force

I'm not saying that I'm perfect, but I hate having to pay for other people's "Slips of the mind". Correct me if I'm wrong, but unless your rig is licensed as an OHV insurance is still required, whether your rig is on pavement or on a dirt road. This is just one more thing for the greenies to...

And we wonder why we have to pay for uninsured motorist coverage. Too bad it takes some people being pulled over before they will do at least the minimum to protect others that they might accidentally injure.

Yeah, you're probably right. At any rate I am beginning my letter writing to these businesses. Let's all get involved and at the very least make these businesses think twice about what they are endorsing.

Here's my response to Mr. Psarras: "Dear Mr. Psarras, I appreciate your response to my email. Even though it was a general form-letter that you sent to everyone that emailed you about the story, it still shows me that at least in some way you are making efforts to respond to your viewers...
