Thanks. My body work is atrocious. But I wanted to keep something from the K5. Also im hoping some smart-ass jeeper on the trail says something like "that's not a chevrolet....."
If I was really smart I should have named this build the Chevrolet-J
Oh and the motobilt back half kit was a PITA. Lots of welding and on the final install you really need two men to lift the finished back half back onto the frame.
Oh and I'll have an update on this picture eventually. I have it tacked up but it needs some TLC.
So Rock Krawler uses these bent, solid upper links. On the frame side they used a 3/4 bushing rod end. So I planned on upping both sides to 7/8 heims for extra strength and flex. Well, the heims now let the bent part slouch down out of position and look wonky. So now I'll have to buy some DOM...
I've been slacking super hard on updates. I want to thank @I Lean for cutting and threading my rear uppers to fit 7/8 heims. Unfortunately they are not gonna work and you'll see in my next post why.
Also, I got the wrong disc brackets. Even though my rear is an SRW, since it's not a newer SRW...
Always, always, always....................... check compression first. It takes 5 minutes and it will tell you where to go.
Bad Compression? Take it apart
Good Compression? Check intake boot, spark, timing, etc
I haven't updated this in a while but only because everything has been non-photogenic. Finally got the front bumper, winch, tuber fenders and axle in. Three link full hydro and coilovers.
I need someone to bore out two link arms, on both ends, 1" diameter to a depth of ~0.75" to fit a 7/8" heim bung. So 4 bores of two link arms. The photos should clear it up some. Can anyone here do this or recommend someone to do it?
Thanks so much!
