    5.3L swap questions

I'm just going off what I know from messing with Fords-- sometimes they put the anti theft in the instrument cluster, the PCM, the anti-theft module-- where ever they felt like. I didn't do to much tuning, mostly fixing. I think I'll have to give Wayne a call. $150 sounds like a great price...

    5.3L swap questions

I'm getting ready to yank out the TBI 350 from my fullsize Blazer and pump in a gen III 5.3l and 4L60E. I have a couple of questions before I yank out a perfectly good running motor. I need a VSS. I don't really want to run the electronically shifted T case that is currently on the...

    TBI 350 vs. gen III 5.3l LM7

TBI 350 is 210 HP @4000 RPM and 300 ft/lbs @ 2800 RPM on 8500 and under GVW trucks. Torque monster? Yes. Fun to drive? Not so much.

    TBI 350 vs. gen III 5.3l LM7

Yeah, well the weight of your heavy *ss trailer blew the #3 spark plug right out of the head on my Ford. Now who needs an engine?

    Radius arm front suspensions; Hopping?

Maybe so, but it made for an interesting afternoon. Didn't we see like 14 more people break and somebody almost lose their head to a flying jeep driveline?

    The Great Compromise (Blazer build-up)

I got the 56's and 63's all swapped in just in time for EJS. The body roll is a bit excessive, but I did drive it from Utah Valley to Moab and didn't die, so it's still pretty road worthy. I'm thinking a panhard in front and anti-roll bar in the rear and I should be good. The springs flexed...

Ford with a passenger side output?

I thought the round pattern GM 205s already had the bigger bearing to accommodate the 32 spline input. At least you don't have to bore the later GM cases if you are doing a doubler. Maybe the bearing sizes are still different. I have both transfer cases in question out in my shed. If I get...

    TBI 350 vs. gen III 5.3l LM7

Maybe. Either way I go, I'm gonna be selling a fuel injected powertrain.

    TBI 350 vs. gen III 5.3l LM7

That's why I'm torn. If it was a 6.0l, I would do the swap, no questions asked. But the TBI makes lots of torque and is so simple--all you need to do is carry a spare fuel pump--which I can change in twenty minutes. The Blazer is set up for rock crawling, but also some desert running (rock...

Ford with a passenger side output?

Ford uses the same six bolt round pattern that the later GM 205's do. You should be able to swap the input shafts and be done with it.

    Radius arm front suspensions; Hopping?

My cousin had a 3.5" lift on an early bronco with stock length radius arms and no drop brackets and it hopped pretty badly in the front. He broke both passenger side ball joints (D44) trying to climb Dump Bump because it hopped so much. That was with old BFG muds, not stickies.

    TBI 350 vs. gen III 5.3l LM7

I've got three yesses and one no for the 5.3 swap. I guess I'll be tearing the blazer apart this winter again. I think advance adapters makes something so you can use old style motor mounts on a gen III block. I remember something about that when Petersen's put a 6.0l in a blazer.

    TBI 350 vs. gen III 5.3l LM7

So, my Blazer has a perfectly good TBI 350 with a brand new 700R4 behind it. The plan was to put on some Vortec heads, a cam, bigger throttle body and a chip and hope I get somewhere close to 300 HP. However, I'm picking up a 2000 chevy with a 5.3l and 4l60e this weekend. Would you yank...

    Coil-over types

It's not an issue with emulsion shocks, but some non-reservoir shocks have the floating piston at the top of the shock to seperate the gas. This is great for performance, but it makes the overall shock length longer when compared to an emulsion or reservoir shock. Just something to watch out for

    General Tech Revearse brake bleeder

Go to a medical supply place and get a 60 ml plastic syringe. Or steal one from the hospital. Obama will pay for it. Fill the syringe by sucking up fluid out of the master (so you don't overfill the system and make a mess.) Cram the tip of the syringe into the bleeder screw on the...

    Drag link angle questions

I'll be switching to a BTA setup, so the new arms will be around 2" shorter. My next question is: will I need to shorten my track bar too?

    Drag link angle questions

I'm in a fight with my steering arm and pitman arm. The steering arm is too long in relation to the pitman arm to get full steering travel, which sucks, especially in a full size. Right now, the drag link is parallel with the axle with the wheels straight ahead. If I switch to shorter high...

General Tech Dana 60 spring plate studs; where to buy?

I have some coarse thread bolts attaching my leaf spring plate to the pumpkin of my chevy D60. They keep coming loose. I would like to put some factory studs back in, so I can double nut them, only I can't find any. I tried Six States and the Chevy dealer (who claims they don't exist) and...

    Saginaw steering box internal stops

I messed around with that steering gear for about an hour and I determined it would be possible to take about 1/16" off the top of the piston and 1/16" off the bottom. You can't take any more material off the end cap because the piston could move down far enough to block the port where the...

    Saginaw steering box internal stops

I tore down an 89 fullsize Blazer box today before work and there are no snap rings. The piston bottoms against the case at the top and the end cap at the bottom. I guess the adjustment Lee MFG. hinted at was only for boxes that had less than 87* of range. I could probably machine down...
