    Saginaw steering box internal stops

I just found an extra steering box in my pile of junk. I'll tear into it and see what I can find. I found a chart on a hotrod site that shows the available rotation from a bunch of different muscle cars. They ranged from 50* to 87* so there has to be some sort of adjustment in there. The box...

    Saginaw steering box internal stops

I need a few more degrees of travel out of my pitman arm (mostly due to mismatched pitman/highsteer arms) so I'd like to increase the travel of the piston in my saginaw (chevy 2WD) box. I know the big cap in the end of the box controls the left turn travel, but what controls the right turn...

The detroits are certainly cheaper, so think I'll give it a shot.

    General Tech ARB or Detroit

a bit of a hijack here, but do the detroits really unlock and ratchet that often? A friend had one in the rear of his early bronco and it seemed like it only unlocked like once a month. I'm also trying to decide on new lockers (I hate my welded diffs) but I didn't think a detroit would be any...

    Slip Yoke Eliminator Kits

I can't remember where I read it (so this is internet hearsay,) but I'm pretty sure the Dodge 241s are not compatible with the chevy ones. IIRC, The shift rail mounts in a different location on the dodge case. You can't just bolt the back half of a Dodge case onto a chevy. You can do that...

    D60 hi steer arm questions.

It doesn't sound like you are going this route, but I've heard that D60 pinion shims also work well for shimming the preload on the nylon cone. I had some arms that used that setup, but I never installed them, so I can say for sure, but that is what the mfg. said to use. I don't miss my...

    Visible exhaust when cold?

Water vapor is a byproduct of the combustion of hydrocarbon fuels--like gasoline. When the weather is right you can see it as fog. Just like you can see your breath when it's cold. When it's warmer, you and the Toy are still exhaling water vapor, you just can't see it. I'm not saying you...

    Jk rough ride

The road force balancing is pretty cool. I used to run the machine at the Ford dealer and it could make a big difference. You can use it to check the tire and wheel for out-of-roundness and then rotate the tire on the wheel so that the tire's high spot is aligned with the wheel's low spot--...

    FJ80 bumper build

You and I have the same compressor. I wish I would have gone with the eighty gallon unit, but the price is almost double. Nice bumper. I appreciate you sharing, since I'll be building the hoop part of mine soon. It keeps the ideas flowing.

    What to build?

I have a K5 and I love it. Just get an 87 or newer so you have TBI and you are set. The wife thinks it's cool since it has AC and power everything. The kids really dig the fact that the top comes off.

    FrankenFord Trans/t-case

I can't tell you about the splines, but ford hasn't changed the 6 bolt T-case pattern in forever. It should work bolt pattern wise. Most Ford automatics used a 31 spline output, I don't know about the manual trannies.

    The Great Compromise (Blazer build-up)

The steering part of the K10 frame was almost as bad as the blazer's, otherwise I would have. I am moving the steering box forward two inches to compensate for the extra wheelbase, so I am taking a different approach. The frame will be boxed and the steering gear will actually be mounted on...

    The Great Compromise (Blazer build-up)

I got a little more work done on the Blazer. Rear 63" springs are installed. I moved the front hanger forward as shown in the picture. The rear is a DIY4X shackle flip which is moved back 3 3/4" and flipped around to the 56" spring position. The shackle angle is not ideal, so I may have to...

    Injecting a Chev 350

In Utah county, they don't check for EGR on 89 and older stuff. They do check for AIR, but not all trucks came with it so there are ways to work around that. Anything 77 or older that was supposed to have cats and AIR, but doesn't will still pass.

    one link suspension

Mesha had a jeep with a one link in the rear. If I remember right, it had some bad wheel hop problems. Maybe he can chime in. It has since been removed and is being four-linked.

    Injecting a Chev 350

You can get an adapter to drop a GM TBI unit on a carb manifold. They're like $60 from summit, if you don't want to mess with the stock manifold. This does require ditching the EGR and AIR. You will lose a bit in the MPG if you drop the EGR. This guy's site has tons of info about TBI stuff...
