    Political So now what

Don't worry, I will be at the Republican caucus. As to impeachment, a couple thoughts there. First, it will always be a very political, partisan process so doubtful the Senate will ever vote to convict a president after the House impeaches them. I think convicting Trump post Jan 6 would...

    Political So now what

Look at that not through a lense of partisan politics. How does anyone become informed without the media? That basically leaves person experience as the only source of knowledge which is seriously limiting. Best approach in my opinion is to get information from multiple news sources, with...

    Political So now what

I will just leave it (and get back to my previous habit of trying to stay out of the political discussions) at saying post Civil War they did not hold trials to convict anyone of insurrection, so the argument that the 14th Amendment only applies if Trump is convicted of a crime doesn't hold up...

    Political So now what

The Constitution sets requirements for president. Far from new to have someone removed from the ballot for not meeting those requirements.

1995 LC HZJ 75 Safari Truck

I need to start getting that figured out! With the holidays behind us should have a little more time. Definitely need to get it in for a bumper to bumper check up. Any immediate needs can then be taken care of. Big picture is to upgrade capability and iseally usability on mountain highways...

    Political So now what

My point is simply that as none of us (to my knowledge) are qualified mental health professionals, it is not really our role to declare what is and is not "real" issues.

My Land Cruiser finally completed its trip from Africa in December and the entire year was full of fun family and animal time.

2023 Year in Review... share yours!

October brought a leaf trip to New England and Lake Powell for the eclipse November I was able to trek and raft in Nepal, with an evening in Qatar. (Everest is one of those peaks in the background.)

2023 Year in Review... share yours!

First big trip of the year was Argentina and Antarctica. 70 ft waves in the Drake and night camped on shore just a couple of many highlights. May brought the birth of grandson number 3. Followed shortly by trip to Tanzania with my son Summer highlighted by family week at Lake Powell and...

1995 LC HZJ 75 Safari Truck

First time attempting "freeway speeds" with it today. Flat (I-80 by Grantsville) and using all the ponies it could muster rattled along okay at little under 75.

    Political So now what

Obviously things can go too far in any direction and I do agree that being "too soft" as a society helps no one. However just because we cannot relate or understand what someone is going through does not make it less real. Some comments in this political thread seem counter productive to the...

1995 LC HZJ 75 Safari Truck

As a quick update, been driving around town on short errands couple times a week. Doing just fine! Surprisingly almost no oil leaking. Once we get past the New Year and end of the holiday business with be able to start getting it a more in-depth check up and making long term plans for it.

    Proud father moments

I still search occasionally wishing I could find a modernized Brat restoration out there that could be my daily driver. Too bad they have all probably rusted away.

Mental health: it’s ok to talk.

One of the hardest things of mental health is that it isn't visible. Some one coughing, limping or whatever you can see there is a problem and can encourage them to seek care. Most mental health struggles are invisible to the rest of us until it is too late.

My niece and her husband did the same thing a number of years ago as they felt 'house poor' trying to make a mortgage payment. Figured a lower rent payment for a few years would be better and then buy another home. Been renting now for 5+ years without much hope of buying again.

I am not sure what you are basing the claim that the economy is "headed for a crash". Inflation rates are way down from a year ago, unemployment very low, pay now increasing faster than inflation, economic growth is strong...

    What are you listening to?

I enjoy Christmas music, just can't handle the very limited selection played on the radio. Thank goodness for Spotify and my own custom Christmas play list!

Mental health: it’s ok to talk.

My wife and I talk frequently about the whole gift giving idea. She grew up not well off and in a country where gifts simply were not a big thing (I suspect that has changed since) so it has always seemed to take away from a Christ centered Christmas (on a side note, I appreciate those sharing...
