It's a 3 second test to see if the relay IS the problem. Do the injectors pulse when cranking? and does the fuel pump turn on?

It sounds like the ASD shut if off. Swap the ASD relay with the starter one.

If you could identify which LED is being used in them then you could determine how hard they're being driven. You might be able to tell just from a super close up picture of the LED chip...
