I need a trailer repair shop. Suggestions?

I think I found the problem. You guys both get a cookie. I put the trailer on jackstands so I could spin each wheel by hand. I wanted to listen for any unusual bearing noise--which there was none at all--and also look carefully at each tire. I started on the passenger side of the trailer...

I need a trailer repair shop. Suggestions?

They are the originals that came with the trailer, so just over five years of use. My next plan is to jack up the entire trailer and set it on stands with all four tires in the air, then spin each wheel and look/listen/feel for anything unusual. I will take a careful look at each tire when I...

That sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the tip.

I need a trailer repair shop. Suggestions?

Well, you guys were right. Looking around underneath, everything seems proper--definitely no inverted shackles. I am now starting to think this is my most probable issue.

I need a trailer repair shop. Suggestions?

I am hoping I find a flipped shackle. If I can restore my usual smooth operation, I'll breathe a big sigh of relief. I can then have the tire wear/alignment checked out separately.

I need a trailer repair shop. Suggestions?

Since posting, I had a chance to discuss my problem with a guy in the shop. He said he has heard of issues where a trailer leaf spring shackle gets flipped/reversed. Anybody ever heard of this? Maybe this has happened to me? I'll crawl under there and take a closer look when I get home tonight.

I need a trailer repair shop. Suggestions?

I bought another car yesterday. (That's a story for another time.) It needed to be towed home. As usual, I hooked my (empty) trailer to my Suburban, checked all eight tires for proper pressure, and hit the road. It was immediately obvious that something was wrong. It felt like I had a...

Central Utah RME Hanging Tree Trail run?

This is very true. For anyone wanting to run it for the first time, be advised: body damage is not guaranteed, but it is very probable. I have managed to run the trail without any damage whatsoever... but I also ran it once where I got hung up on one obstacle and crunched three corners of my...

CEL... how long after clear to emission?

This is spot on, and I just experienced it personally with my new-to-me 1997 Geo Metro. I bought it for pocket change with a non-functional throwout bearing and a CEL. Right after I did, my friend Mike bought a '00 Metro of his own, also with a CEL. Our CELs were for the same issue, so we...

Okay, fair enough. As sweet as the EZ-TCU is, I completely understand.

    The H'ell Camino

It's no secret I am a big fan of the 4L80E in my Grand Prix. I'm just running the stone stock one from my 190,000 mile donor box van. If you're on a budget, just hit up the wrecking yards and grab one off a (2WD) box van for a couple hundred bucks (or less). Pick N Pull on 33rd always has...

Who wants to do a carfax for me?

Title report is clean, but man that's a lot of miles for an '07. Need me to email the report to you? Whatcha got?

    The H'ell Camino

I was not implying it had factory disc brakes; I just figured if somebody spent all that time and money on a resto, they might have stuffed discs under it while they were there. Good news: you have plenty of cheap, easy options for front discs. You can modify your existing spindles like my...

What brakes are up front now? Drums? And what rear axle does it have?

Central Utah RME Hanging Tree Trail run?

I'm willing to join, if the trip happens on a day I am available. (But don't plan the entire trip around my schedule.)

    The Ham Radio Thread

The UV-82 is a definite upgrade over the UV-5R series of radios. And while Baofeng has released a few upgraded models of the UV-82 (such as the UV-82C, the UV-82X and the UV-82HP), even the original model (which seems to be what Woot is offering) still sells for $35 each on Amazon. Getting two...

    CB Radio questions.

I will second everything frieed said against illegal CB radios and everything he said in favor of ham radio. Now that that is out of the way, back to your CB issue. When you installed the antenna, did you properly insert the white plastic insulator (washer) in the correct place?

    The Ham Radio Thread

Over the weekend, a new ham operator posted this to the UVARC page on FB: While his experience is nothing new to us experienced hams, I still loved seeing his surprise and enthusiasm for discovering linked repeaters. Since his experience directly relates to our beloved 4WD activities, I...
