    Brake squeak

Did the pads have the little sheet metal anti-squeal things on the back of them? Those are important. If they are supposed to have the sheet metal thing on the back and they don't, they will make bad noises. The Napa lifetime pads I put on my wife's Nissan make horrible metal on metal...

    New garage ideas.

Try to plan your shelving/cabinets/storage ahead of time. That way the extra doors won't get in the way. I don't know how much equipment you have, but it all takes up lots of wall space if you don't want it sitting in the middle of the floor. My garage has the walls lined completely solid...

    Ballistic Fab Steering Question

I wouldn't say vastly inferior. a piece of 1018 DOM is a piece of 1018 DOM. Buy the kit with the QA1 rod ends that everyone else sells and you won't have a problem with it. I have their high steer arms and they were just as nice as my other set which I paid more for from a vendor on Pirate...

    The Great Compromise (Blazer build-up)

Here are the pics I promised. You can see where I moved the front spring hanger to the front side of the body mount. I'm working on a new frame crossmember, but I haven't gotten a fairlead yet, so I don't know how big to make the slot for the winch rope. I had some six inch shackles on it new...

    The Great Compromise (Blazer build-up)

I haven't figured the mileage yet. I have pretty much the same setup as Tacoma, but with 37's. I'm wishing for 4.88 gears though. So Tacoma, you don't think I should run those 63 inchers? I just dropped the rear axle out and I'm ready to start knockin' out rivets on monday. Maybe I should...

KOH style racing comes to Utah!!!

So is Ultra 4 a whole new class? I read in another post that Bonneville will be using the same rules as BITD. According to their rules, my junk would have to be in the 8000 class. Is Ultra 4 a Bonneville only class or does BITD and SCORE have something similar. I guess what I'm asking is...

    The Great Compromise (Blazer build-up)

I just finished swapping in some 56" springs out front and I'm starting on my 63"s with a shackle flip in the rear. Time to get rid of the blocks. I'll steal the wife's camera and get some picks up later tonight.

    The Great Compromise (Blazer build-up)

Oh yeah, both front body mounts where gone and the next one back on the driver side. After that hill, I threw a couple of ratchet straps around the bumper and radiator support. It was super classy.

    The Great Compromise (Blazer build-up)

Those of you who are married will understand the title better than those of you who are not. When I started this build, it was supposed to be a Chevy truggy/prerunner rig destined to compete in King of the Hammers, but the wife and kids changed the plan. I started off with a '76 K10 on one...

    Seat cushion advice

Eat more twinkies and don't exercise? There is always the aftermarket seat option. I've heard Mastercraft seats are very nice. When I was a tech for Ford, we had a customer who was constantly complaining about their driver seat. We actually ordered another lower seat cushion and installed it...

    Roll Cage Design

Theory is good in classrooms, books and internet forums, but when it comes down to building an actual cage, most of it goes out the window. If you are building a buggy from scratch, it is a lot easier apply the theory behind building a perfect cage, but you will still have to compromise on some...

Project "Swollen Goat" gets under way

The worst garage to build a jeep in is far better than building a jeep in the rain and snow. Maybe it's just me. It kind of sucks when your delusions of coilover grandeur get trashed, reality kicks in and you have to compromise on the build up. Good luck on the build. On the bright side...

Are there any people here interested in off-road racing in Utah

^^^^^ Thanks. Thanks a lot. I've already found myself a good deal on an early bronco. Now the blazer will never be finished and the wife will be mad I'm getting another truck.

    Project Toyota Tacoma Doublecab

Glad to see it in action. It's been a long time coming. Forest Lake it a great trail, especially for shakedown runs. That's where I'm headed when I get my junk back together.

    The family Commando build project

Just out of curiosity, what would become of the willys wagon body, should you decide to put TJ frame under your Commando? I miss my old Willys-- always looking for another. Looks like a fun build. The Commandos are sooo much cooler than regular jeeps.

    Ford 5.4L motors

176k on my 97 F150 and no problems. The DOHC 32V 5.4l in the Lincoln are good motors, and don't have the spark plug issues. If you are careful when you change the spark plugs and don't use a cheater bar when you put the new ones in, you will probably not have any problems with them. I was a...

    1/4 Elliptical Front and Rear

For the amount of links you have to build to get a 1/4 elliptical setup to work, you may as well have done a double triangulated four link with coilovers. They are easier to tune than leaves and weigh a lot less.
