Safety Inspection laws *new and improved"

WTF? I did read the rules and I never said anything about fender flares. I stated mud flaps must cover the width of the tire and the upper 50%. Looks like it says the same thing in the 2008 or 2009 manual. Yeah, they changed the wording a bit, but it says the same.

    What are you listening too.

Usually, I fire up the old Ipod and let it rip through 20 or so different Pink Floyd albums. Every now and then, I'll do the same with Led Zep try these and see what ya think: Beautiful You by Lateef and the Chief I Need to Cut Back by Sweatshop Union

    HREW, DOM and 4130N

So, I want to build a cage for my FS Blazer. It's a family hauler with mostly trail rides and rock crawling in mind, maybe some blasting around the desert at 40 or 50 mph. Someday, I'd like to do KOH, but that probably isn't going to happen. What would you build it out of? Trying to look...

    2010 Ford Taurus wtf?!

Yeah, the Five Hundred name lasted less than a year. I don't know what they were thinking dropping the Taurus name for that. The Taurus has soooo much brand recognition. I am glad to see them bringing back the SHO. This one looks like it'll have some power. The last generation of SHO's...

    Marketing help!

Direct mail works pretty well, but you have to send out stuff to the same people several times before they start to notice you. Pick an area and farm it, baby. Honestly, I would milk your friends and family for referrals too. My wife is an agent and she is doing pretty well right now. What...

    pellet gun talk

We have a Gamo break barrel .177 at work for use in the SAP (squirrel abatement program) and I have been less than impressed with it. The accuracy is not really there and it won't drop a squirrel. I have yet to stop a squirrel cold with it, even though I have confirmed hits. Joe hasn't...

I wanna Rock! I WANT TO ROCK!

How do you like those flex joints on your rear shackle hanger? I am building some shackle hangers and I was wondering if they are worth the cost and time as opposed to a urethane bushing (which is lots less work in my application)? Do they help much in the flex department?

Safety Inspection laws *new and improved"

http://publicsafety.utah.gov/safetyinspections/docs/PLTmanual.pdf says right there on lifted vehicles mud flaps must be present and cover the full width of the tire and the upper 50%. As crappy as it is, I guess running 285's instead of 265's would fall into that category since the UHP...

    GM's Eaton Rearends

It would be cool if there was aftermarket support for these axles. It seems to me that they have all the benefits of the Ford 9" (dropout third, easy to setup gears, sheet metal housing, three pinion bearings) but with a bigger ring gear. Chrisman makes 10" ring gears that fit in custom 9"...

    Steel fuel cell??

I have friend who built one himself for his old willys. He had a sheet metal place bend two pieces of 14 gauge into C shapes and welded them together with a mig. He even welded in the bung from a chevy tank so he could drop his level sender/fuel pump unit right inside and secure it with a...

What is so wrong with regular old truck nutz? When I worked at the dealer, we always had to put those stupid little mudflaps on the superdutys. The only good thing about them was that it paid pretty well for the time it took to install them. I have to agree with you about revenue. I...

    Auto Tranny General Questions

Changing the tranny fluid is usually a last ditch effort to try and save a dying trans...that may be why the fluid is so clean. The previous owner may have had tranny problems and changed the fluid to try and solve them. If the fluid hadn't been changed in a really long time before that...

    GM's Eaton Rearends

Digging up an old thread... school me on eatons Do they share any parts with the 14 bolt or are they a totally different animal? Are parts still available? And finally, has anyone seen one for sale lately or in a wrecking yard? All the yards I frequent don't have anything like that.

    Cutting 1/2" aluminum

I use a table saw for just about everything when I need a long straight cut. A good carbide blade works wonders on all sorts of stuff. I have even seen guys cut thin steel (<.120) on table saw with no ill effects. I haven't personally tried cutting steel yet, but it'll do aluminum no problem...

And now for my next overly complicated idea

Yeah, you can get Chrisman 10" thirds, but they are not cheap or easy to find. I like the idea of using as many parts that the local napa will carry as possible. If I can find an eaton, that would be awesome, but I have yet to see one for sale or in a wrecking yard. I haven't been actively...

And now for my next overly complicated idea

The eaton is an excellent idea. I never thought of that. I haven't seen any eatons in the wrecking yards I frequent, though. I remember seeing a post about the atomic axles, but I stopped paying attention after I saw how much $$$ they were. I'll have to look again. Edit: I looked them up...
