    Why do you fab?

I only buy stock rigs. I can't stand not starting from a clean slate when I start a project. Nothing will ever perform the way I want it to unless I build it. The perfectionist in me makes me do all my own stuff. Even if I could afford to have BHR build me something awesome, I would still do...

transfer case e-brake; what might work?

http://www.tsmmfg.com/Transfer_Case_Park_%20Brake.htm google is your friend and mine too. The guys in the link above have big mechanical calipers for $100, plus they have laser cut stainless 8" rotors that are drilled to bolt right onto the driveshaft yoke. You can get a rotor that will...

    4l60e disassemble?

X2 on the ATSG manual. That's the one I would get. They can usually be found on Ebay for around $20. I would say it's something you can tackle yourself. Since you are only replacing the output, you wont have to tear everything down-- the pump assembly and the whole front half of the tranny...

Dodge plow truck redeemed itself- pulled out a semi

Yeah, I wished I could have got it on camera, but I was the only one on shift. Pics or it didn't happen right? I'm pretty sure my boss doesn't get on RME, so I think I'm safe.

    RME bigwigs

Somebody will have to give Greg a ride since he's selling his jeep.

    Will it ever stop snowing?!

I don't care how much we get at the house. That's easy enough to shovel and the kids love it. It just sucks up at the plant were I work--miles of sidewalk and road I have to keep clear. I guess it is part of my job. But I'd rather be posting on RME.

Dodge plow truck redeemed itself- pulled out a semi

So the stupid Dodge plow truck that I got stuck last night (cubanb pulled me out) just redeemed itself. We had a chemical delivery today and the guy took forever to pump it into our tanks (4500 gallons), so he didn't leave until after six--when everything had frozen again. I'm watching him...

    Will it ever stop snowing?!

We're up on the bench, so we got a little more. I just measured and we still have 20 inches. It was 40* all day so it melted down a lot. I'd say we had 30" last night. It was snowing almost an inch per hour. I got darn near eight inches in an eight hour shift.

    Will it ever stop snowing?!

Stuck at work. Just got the plow truck stuck, too. Guess I'll have to wait for my relief to help me pull it out. I'm gonna go make friends with the snow blower. Again.

    Concealed Carry and the Wife

I am probably going to buy the wife a gun of her own choice and drag her to the range as much as I possibly can. Maybe that will help. She shoots her Dad's Kimber from time to time, but doesn't really like my Tokarev. I agree with what's been said above. They probably should bring back the...

Front, or rear??? check the link first

I guess the third member would be, but the ring and pinion wouldn't be or you would be driving on the coast side of the gear. Same reason you can't just put a front axle in the back and have 4 wheel steer. That's why the early Currie front 9" used 8.8" reverse cut gears, since no reverse cut...

    welding tube...

Make a really big rotisserie for your buggy so you can rotate it around and weld in a flat position no matter where you are welding. "Always turns out the same" is kind of vague. Tell us what is happening that is not good, so we can give more specific pointers. Or maybe just remember to turn...

Welding 14 bolt axles tubes to center section

Spent while at the welding shop asking questions and this is what I came home with: Nickel 55 Rod Pinnacle Alloys Part # PP1125NI55E ENiFe-CI (55) 1/8" rod cost around $20/lb They said my best bet would be to stick weld it with this rod. Clean it with degreaser and then wire brush it till it...

Front, or rear??? check the link first

I'm beginning to think it may be worth it to buy a star (or gear.) Congratulations. Building the front would definitely be cooler, but I imagine third members are more expensive than finding one for a rear would be. Have them ship it directly to Sandy Cone of Cone industries and have him...

    New low for myself

My garage isn't big enough to fit the Blazer inside, so I feel your pain. I'm going to trade in the creeper for my kid's sled. I was making pretty good progress until this super cold weather hit. My neighbors probably hate me now, since there will be a axleless Blazer on jackstands until it...

    DOM steering

FWIW, Ben Hanks used 1.25" x .281 wall DOM and had it done in less than 24 hours. Cost me $80 with tax and everything.

    Alternator question

Having a good impact wrench is the key to successful pulley swapping, IMHO. Jamming screw drivers in there while using a big wrench on the pulley nut doesn't really prolong the alternator's life much.

    Concealed Carry and the Wife

The only thing I ever want to shoot is paper targets and western family diet grapefruit soda cans--'cause hydrostatic shock is cool. I didn't get my permit so I could be a hero at Trolley Square or something, but rather to make sure that my family and I make it home alive every time. I would...

Who would you want to control Jeep?

You're right-- Toyota does build great vehicles and they have done an excellent job at responding to the market. I would drive any one of their vehicles if I could afford them, except the Prius. I won't stoop that low. I would love to trade in my F150 for a new Tundra, but after being a Ford...
