    Antarctica -The Birds

The Antarctic and sub Antarctic bird life is amazing. You have everything from the huge (wandering albatross, which we saw only briefly and no photo) to the tiny (Wilson's storm petrel) that thrive in such a harsh environment. And there are terns that migrate yearly between the arctic and...

    Antarctica - Whales

We had some great whale encounters. Pod of about 14 orca that followed the ship for 20 or so minutes. Roughly 100 or so humpbacks seen. Highlight was watching a young (yearling) calf breach right in front of the ship, coming completely out of the water (unfortunately no photo.)

    Antarctica Part One, landscapes.

Which ice wall? Not sure how many hundreds of glaciers we saw. It is hard to put things into scale, but a number of ice faces where several hundred feet high.

    Antarctica Part One, landscapes.

14 days, 120 passengers plus about 70 crew/staff. It was one of the smaller ships out there (we saw a few others in port and as we worked our way back north- it was very cool to go about a week and not see a single other human outside our own group when we where further south.) It is a little...

Nothing of the worst conditions. Spent that time confined to the cabin.

    Antarctica pt 2 Seals

We saw multiple seal species- crab eaters (which by the way do not eat crabs, go figure), Weddle, Leopard and Fur Seals (both Antarctic and South American). If anyone really cares to know how to tell them apart I will try my best! Enjoy the photos.

    Antarctica Part One, landscapes.

My wife and I finally made a twice-delayed (COVID) expedition to Antarctica. Sailed out of Ushuaia, Argentina. Furthest point south was roughly 930 miles south of there (1300 miles from the south pole.) An amazing trip, very hard to describe what that part of the world is really like. Will...

    RME Apparel Thread...yes, it's happening.

I I purchased a hoodie from Red Bubble. Very. Very comfortable. First all the printing came in first wash so they sent me a free replacement that is holding up well.

Storage room shelving - What do you love?

We went with sturdy, built-in shelves for both our garage and storage room when we built our current house. No issues with capacity which is nice but of course not flexible. Every now and then we consider changes to make rotating food storage easier but never makes it to the action stage.

    Travel Deals!

I have tried a number of different sites but end up back on Travelocity pretty much every trip. I have found we are usually on different airlines coming and going to get the best price and flight schedule. Keep in mind that if you book legs separately, a delay in one will not get your next...
