    Rear bumper/tire carrier/Rubicon rack ideas

It's not on a jeep but might give you a few ideas. I consider mine to be a modular setup on my Tacoma. I am using two daul shear hinges from Comp4x4. These are the simple face mount hinges they sell that use brass bushings and a 1" bolt. They are stupid simple but I wanted the dual shear...

Sept, 22nd. Mineral Basin trail at American Fork Canyon

You missed it because it was organized over on Tacomaworld.com. Not that we didn't want people from here to join us but I think the guy that was putting together isn't on this board.

Didn't mean to imply you took the "easy" line. I just took a dumb line.

Sept, 22nd. Mineral Basin trail at American Fork Canyon

Yeah the far left line with the driverside up on top of the rocks was the best line. That's the line the white Tacoma and BlackZJ took. I had my driverside down in the hole inside of those rocks on the left and it was more of a challenge. Some rock stacking by the group was all I needed...

Rear bumper swing out tire carrier build

One thing I like about that hinge is that if you get any slop it will be in the bronze bushings not in the hinge sleeve. So you can always replace the bushings and the 1" bolt for like new performance again.

Rear bumper swing out tire carrier build

When you get to the tire carrier portion you might look at some of the dual shear hinges from Comp4x4. I used one of their simple hinges on my homemade bumper. It's just a 1" bolt with bronze bushings. I have a spindle type hinge on my Land Cruiser tire carrier and it's great but this simple...
