Yep, no doubt that 2.8 is a pile of dump. I've swaped in the 3.4 complete with the fuel injection and all and I'm very happy with it. It was a learning process though as I couldn't find anyone that had kept the MPFI but it looked so good I just couldn't pull it off and put all the old crap...
I'd also like to hear how's best to do this. I'm planning something to that extent this summer. I'm pretty much doing just what Mark Bryson's doing with waggy springs in the front to push the front axle forward a few inches and XJ leafs in the rear to push it back like 3 or 4.
Ouch! Pretty much nowhere. Those are about the least common window in the least comon configuration for a steel window. Sorry for the bad news but you should probably try to find another option. Finding steel double hungs are going to prove almost impossible unless you go with one of the...
It's an awesome mountainbike trail. Gnarly as hell. I've seen jeeps on it but I don't know how they get there. It's technical for bikes but I think it would just be more of a scenic drive in a jeep. It's not just for mountainbikers though.
Well, I'm getting pretty bad mileage. Somewhere around 12, I'll have to see if it helps me out at all. I think I'll try it in my work truck just for the heck of it. That thing sees a lot of miles and definitely has some kind of latent fuel issues with 233,000 miles on the odometer.
Sure, I'll give you a call tomorrow. Nex time I'm up there I can take a look at them. I've been rebuilding a lot of those latley. It's kinda a easier route than replacing the whole thing.
This is a pretty interesting thread over at NAXJA, just thought you guys might want to look it over.
I'm going to give it a try.

Ahhhhhhhh, the historical codes are rediculous....but, you have to follow them. If it were possible it would be well worth it to replace those huge ugly units with wood windows, just the energy savings alone would benefit the cost.
Looking at the picture you're going to spend more on reglazing than on new windows and most guys won't want to touch that project. What kind of building is that and how are you refinishing it? Wood windows would be awesome there but you could also do a fairly decent vinyl in there.
Axle swaps aren't a straight thing in those. The rear axle is offset as well as the front.
The stock axles can handle a 33 without breaking so long as you're not heavy footed. You really can't get to heavy with 50 hp anyway.
If you're going the jeep eater (or whatever it's called) kit...
It sounds like you want to do links but if you don't want to hassle with that or you're not up to building it the YJ spring kit works great and flexes pretty well too.
Hey Emily. Sorry I haven't called you back, I'll get to that. If you want to have him bring it by my work I can take a look at it and tell him what it really is and how hard it's going to be to fix it. There's no hose on that engine that you have to pull the entire thing to replace...
Yes, this is way too true! I'm going on a warm weather binge. In the last two weeks I've been four wheeling, mountain biking, and dirtbiking. Every free minute has to be spent doing something!
There are three main types of clutches that were used on fourwheelers. There's a torque sensing automatic clutch like on snowmobiles, the regular pressure plates style like on a motorcycle and there's also a centrifugal cltuch on some too. Do you have a clutch handle or does it automatically...
