Liar liar pants on fire !

Well I guess I need to find full length welding apron. Over the weekend I was welding and felt my knee getting warm, I looked down and saw that my Levis were burning. Luckily the burn spot was only around an inch and a half and I was able to put it out quickly before it got worse. Unfortunately...

Vehicle renewal cards no longer being sent

We stopped getting vehicle renewal cards in the mail and almost missed one of our rigs registrations. It turns out the state is no longer sending the cards out. They expect you to sign up for email notices. So this morning I have been entering all of our vehicles. I decided I have way too many...

Don't leave old gas in your ATV or motorcycle

I just fixed an ATV for a guy who had issues keeping the thing running. He took it to a shop paid a bunch of money and it still had issues. So he bought a new carb for it and it still ran like crap. I could tell he had fuel delivery issues and found that his fuel shut off valve was gummed up...

    Jeep history

The articles I've read say AMC purchased Jeep in 1970. My friend's CJ was produced in 1971, sold as a 72 and has an AMC 304 V8. The parts for that year of Jeep are a pain to find. When I was fixing my friends jeep I had to order 70-71 parts for some things and 73 parts for others. My Commando is...

High winds in SLC valley tomorrow

Just helped the neighbor who had the 5 trees come down cut up the big ones. It took my biggest saws but we got them all cut up.

    Crystals in the mud

I just did a google search and it is a form of gypsum. "Gypsum is an industrially important mineral. It is the primary ingredient of plaster-of-Paris, which is finely ground Gypsum, and it is used in the production of cement. It is also the main component of sheet rock. It is used as a flux for...

    Crystals in the mud

Took the grandkids up to dig in the mud of the Great Salt Lake near the Spiral Jetty. If you get lucky you can find nice selenite crystals.

High winds in SLC valley tomorrow

Pine trees also get strength from intertwining their roots with neighboring trees. We tend to plant them far apart from each other in shallow soil.

High winds in SLC valley tomorrow

I was walking around the neighborhood yesterday and there's lots of trees down. One poor neighbor had 5 very large pine trees come down in his yard. One landed on the house and looks like it messed things up good. I was surprised how small and shallow the root ball was for such a tall tree.

High winds in SLC valley tomorrow

We haven't lost power yet but have been hearing transformers popping this morning. I've lost some of the branches on my biggest tree and hoping the smaller ones make it OK. My last remaining rows of corn are also flattened.

    72 CJ5 water pump issue

Well after a lot of looking I have discovered that switching to the newer parts requires more parts than expected. The crank pulley has to be changed to get the new stuff to line up however the 72 uses a 3 hole pulley and the newer ones use a 4 hole so I would have to change the damper also...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I replaced the garbage disposal after 33 years of service. The only problem I ran into was my daughter turning the water on soaking the cabinet when it should have been obvious that there was a big hole in the bottom of the sink and tools laying all over the place. This has been a bad year for...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

We just had to swap the exhaust header on my son's MJ. This header was supposed to be an expensive one but it sure didn't last long.

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I spent a good part of the day fixing my daughters XJ that was overheating and puking antifreeze. The system needed a flush, new antifreeze, a new radiator cap (the old one wasn't holding any pressure), and a different electric fan. It seems much better now. Now I have to figure out an exhaust...

    Need to sandblast Jeep trailer

The metal is quite thick on this old trailer with no thin spots that I know of. I know this can be an issue, when they sandblasted my Scrambler tub they blew sections out. It did show me where I had to replace metal. My friends dad was the original owner of the trailer and he used it to haul...

    Need to sandblast Jeep trailer

My old Bantam 3C Jeep trailer needs to be painted. It has 72 years old paint on it and I'm tired of going through sanding disks. Does anyone know a good sandblasting shop that could make life easier for me ?

Need to read error codes from my Mercury Verado

After reading a lot of posts on the Verado sites I did more testing and I think I have it figured out. Its a couple of things one the battery is not in good shape and I have a dead coil or plug. It won't start when warm which turns out to be the battery. It was also showing codes but none of...
