    Tile Work

Oh oh, me too! Wife has been hounding me, and that's one thing I'm not doing myself...

    Mortgage Rates

We used LoanDepot this last time... Started out attentive and communicative for the first week or so and then completely went offer the rails. They became evasive and deceptive, we had to hound them to get everything finished up. Overall a very negative experience. We used Academy for our...

    Mortgage Rates

Don't forget to consider fees and all that. Those add up quickly and have to be rolled into the loan if you can afford them upfront. We refinanced in December and locked in at 3.3%. it would have to be much lower to be worth it for us.

Dang... I thought I was over it, but I miss my Trooper after looking at your photos. 😕

    Stucco Work?

Hmmm... This is thin and gives when your push on it with your hand. So which is it?

    Stucco Work?

Is your brother-in-law still in the business? Definitely soft foam (gives when lightly pressed, has a foam/fiber backing), needs some love.

Wanted 80 Series Land Cruiser Roof Rack

I didn't know you had an 80 Series, that's awesome. Jealous.

    Coronavirus

Haha. Though I have great respect for those that pursue a career in retail, this isn't what I do on the daily. I have a shift or two a week in the back fulfilling online orders. Jeep money, yard money, house project money. Take your pick. Most it seems do care, but there are some... Yikes.

    Coronavirus

** Target Update 5/19 ** Yellow clearly means "all is well, recommendations be damned." Families in droves, touching everything, no masks, complaining that changing rooms are still closed, whining that we don't have Clorox wipes. Watched a grown man sneeze into his hand and then pick up/put...

    Coronavirus

** Target update 5/8 ** We have everything but hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. Outside of that it feels much the same, apart from the limitations on number of guests in the store. The difference this evening is that everyone is now acting pre-COVID. Social distance? Naw... Masks...

    Coronavirus

I did, yes. A few times in fact. The subsequent statements by researchers and doctors from various orgs/universities, including the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, resonated more than two business owners, albeit doctors. I'm not reading...

The video and their assertions were widely rebuked. That might be why...

What will you change after Covid?

We've been fortunate to not have income impacted during all of this, but even the thought of losing my income again (did about 4 years ago for 5 months) has me wanting to extend savings to 8 months liquid, minimum. And not just bare-bones savings but the kind of savings where you don't have to...

They've been widely panned/condemned for their video, here: https://www.kqed.org/news/11814749/bakersfield-doctors-dubious-covid-19-test-conclusions-spread-like-wildfire From the article - ... public health experts were quick to point out the major flaws in the doctors’ methodology – namely...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Previous owners made some plain stupid decisions with the basement in our house. Narrow halls, small doorways everywhere. At the bottom of the stairs was a small landing, with doorways left and right that were both 33" wide. TIGHT. Tackled one side this evening, opened it up to nearly 55"...

    Coronavirus

** Centerville Target Update 4/21 ** Miracle of miracles, we had toilet paper, paper towels, and hand sanitizer in stock last night. Still no sanitizing wipes or bleach. Rather than use curbside pickup (free and same-day), people continue to come into the store to browse. Wander. Mosey. But...

    Passsenger car tires

I had these on my '03 Beetle and '07 Passat Wagon. Good tires with loads of treadlife. They were good in snow, but like any all-season, not a snow tire and had to be driven as such.

    Yard maintenance

Anybody know anybody in the business? Previous owners were do-it-yourselfers that shouldn't have tried. Want to start over with correct grading. Any recommendations for lawn/bed removal and grading? Once to that point I can do sprinklers and drainage.

    Coronavirus

*TARGET UPDATE 4/10 * I'm convinced that people are idiots. No matter your position on all this, common sense is apparently dead. Knowing what COVID can do, why would you come to a Target and wander just to wander? Why bring your entire family to wander and have your kids touch every...
