Bought a home, seller didn't disclose

Home Warranty just replaced the sump, no hassle, within 24 hours of calling them. Not to shabby. I pulled up the baseboards yesterday to find them wet and water-spotted, slightly molded. I at that point was furious, said "to hell with it," and pulled up in the drywall and tore a chunk off...

Bought a home, seller didn't disclose

Looking at it, I'd definitely say not permitted, but we went into it knowing we wanted to tear it down. We didn't, however, know it was the giant pile it turned out to be with leaks and all. We're in this house for the long run. This was it. This, exactly this. With the flooring being being...

Bought a home, seller didn't disclose

I'm more upset that they didn't just disclose issues. Just say "we've had grading issues but have done x to mitigate it." Don't weave a story about how it's preventative, never used, blah blah blah. It'll be fine, and as Noahfecks mentioned, just time and sweat equity that I was already low...

Bought a home, seller didn't disclose

Thanks for the responses, all. Apparently not an isolated thing. 1995 rambler with basement. Hidden Hollow area in Layton close to the Kays Creek trail. We are not the lowest point in the area by any means. We did have an inspection, by the inspector recommended by our realtor whom I've...

Bought a home, seller didn't disclose

I'm typically not one to create posts, but this one has me down... Wife and I purchased our current home in November. Basically our dream layout minus my third car garage... Great area, good schools. Diring the due diligence process, we were diligent (ha!) in asking questions, ensuring a...

"Cold" New podcast about Susan Powell

This, exactly. I'll admit it, hit me hard on my drive to work. That and the audacity of the Powell family intending to bury Josh next to the boys. No.

"Cold" New podcast about Susan Powell

I had a hard time listening to this one, as my kids ages aren't far off from the Powell boys. Just... devastating.

"Cold" New podcast about Susan Powell

I was thinking about that one, and at first glance it seems odd, for sure. Like the podcast said, they determined the grandparents turned caregivers were overwhelmed. Maybe they were cooking dinner and needed the stove space, or maybe he was thinking "knowing the boys, if I leave this on a...

    Epic food porn

My Grandma's swedish meatballs, little smokies, spicy-cheesy-beer dip with bread or chips, loaded potato skins, and a nice side salad to be healthy. All homemade by yours truly. Wash it down with a cold Coke, and it was the highlight of an otherwise boring game.

"Cold" New podcast about Susan Powell

This... a nauseous feeling that won't go away. Josh (and his siblings that stayed with Steve) never had a chance with a father like that.

    Favorite sunglasses

I have a few pairs of Shady Rays sunglasses that I've really enjoyed. All their offerings are polarized, I believe. I have their amber lenses, they're awesome for driving. They usually have good online codes, and each pair comes with two replacements if you break/lose them, just pay shipping.

    2018 Christmas thread

This was us, can totally relate. We moved in just 4 days prior to Christmas. Kids handled it well.

"Cold" New podcast about Susan Powell

Right?! Just listening to Josh talk makes my skin crawl. He has that "dead inside" voice, and his dad is just plain awful.

    Need a new commuter vehicle

I guess that (above) misses the mark for "beefy" when it comes to potential wildlife encounters....

    Need a new commuter vehicle

Maybe I missed it in previous posts, but have you considered an older RAV4 or CRV? Reliable, AWD, good on gas, relatively easy to fix diy.

    I hate Craigslist Lowballers...

Wow. That's definitely one of the worst I've seen. If he thought he had any chance of getting you to come down in price, that's a great way to start a negotiation... Not long ago when I sold our Murano, I had a guy that offered me $4k in cash on my $9.5k asking price. I said no and he responded...
