I think I've found the perfect tow rig

Box van The box van also has a Tommy Lift that works great, which is one of the major problems with it as a tow vehicle - no way to mount a good receiver with the Tommy Lift in place.

I think I've found the perfect tow rig

The bus has 200,000 + miles, but is in terrific condition. I don't know how often they come up at auctions, but should be pretty cheap. Ours is ex-UTA and has been cared for very well, so it should run another 100,000 miles with ease. We have a Dodge travel van with the high top, but the bus...

I think I've found the perfect tow rig

The Short Bus Thanks Cheston (grin). For now it may get a porta-potty. Yes indeed - Bec's working on decals now. Yes - it works great! We'll just blow right through them (big grin). We have a flat screen located at Sam's Club and a spare couch in the family room - good ideas...

I think I've found the perfect tow rig

Hopefully the pictures will post. Bec and I bought this 1999 Ford E450 bus with 7.3 liter Power Stroke from a fellow wheeler (Richard Bronsema of Above All 4X4) in Cedar City yesterday. It will haul the entire mob plus luggage, coolers, tools and parts where ever we choose to go. I just need to...

Sign this, keep Hanging Tree trail open!!

HTT I would also like Hanging Tree to stay open. My Scout literally grew up on that trail. I probably have made more trips on HTT than any other trail.

    how heavy is your rig

Weights We've been hoping to make it back to your area all summer - ain't gonna happen I guess. Zack is doing great. Bec's buggy is just about the ultimate in a minimalist buggy - not an ounce of fat on it.

    Another "the build started"

Studebakers SWeeeeet!! The only trucks that look better than R series Studes are Stude Coupe Express trucks followed by M series Studes. There is a factory 1958 Studebaker 4X4 here in Evanston (E series) still owned by the original Studebaker dealer.

    how heavy is your rig

Weights '49 Dodge Power Wagon is 6200 lbs. - weighed several times at truck pulls. '67 Scout guessing it weighs about 5000 lbs. - D60 front, D70 rear with HEAVY IHC V-8. Bec's Sami buggy weighs 1760 lbs. - weighed on certified scale. Fun thread - thanks for posting it.

    Jack Tomlin, military vehicle collector.

Jack That's good to hear. I heard the BATF story from a few MV collectors in Idaho.

    Jack Tomlin, military vehicle collector.

Jack Tomlin My first visit to Jack's place was about 25 years ago. The first thing I saw there was a piece of steel plate about 4 ft. by 4 ft. by 4 inches suspended from gin poles on a 2-ton truck. There were 3 huge craters in the plate - Jack was using it as a target for one of his cannons...

    small AC units? Heaters?

If you can find an A/C unit from a Scout II, the in cab piece mounted below the dash as a separate assembly. Another up side to the Scout II A/C system is the York compressor used with it.

rock crawling event in superior wyoming 4th of july

Steve, there is a good trail a few miles from my house. I wouldn't recommend taking your Tacoma on it - pretty sure to get body damage. When you get your '81 ready, then we'll do that trail.
