Finally an update. Got confirmation from 4WP that the new crate axle shipped on Tuesday. G2 had multiple delays, initially being out of stock of axle shafts, then bearings, then it was blamed on COVID restrictions in CA. Bottom line, the axle shipped. I should see it next week, albeit a month...

Last Friday I did not have to go into work, so plans were to spend a good chunk of the day prepping the Jeep for Trail Hero in Sand Hollow, UT. Just before going, my boy asked me if I would take him to school in the Jeep. It took some arm twisting but agreed. On the return trip, I turned the...

Machine shop recommendations (Utah County area)

Ive heard good things about Strasburg, if that doesn't work, Ideal Machine in SF, or JJ machine also in SF should be an option. FWIW, JJ machine is a fellow wheeler if that makes a difference.

Where are you in UT county? Don’t the rings press on?

Nope. I have them pulled off just haven't made time to list the parts on KSL. I have a full set that are in excellent condition. No chalking. (I don't have the small extensions that bolt to the body behind the front fender flares though)

Well, it bugged me that I had rear aluminum corners and stock front fenders, so I talked my wife into letting me get front tube fenders. Wanting to stay consistent with the aluminum theme, it narrowed my options quite a bit. Just a few years ago, several companies were in the market of TJ...

The tail lights arrived, although 2 days late. FedEx dropped the ball twice in back-to-back days in delivering them. I contacted the sales rep I used to work with when I was shipping manager, and he helped get things straightened out. At any rate, these things are a work of art, attention to...

KSL has been a good friend lately, getting me some good deals on new tires/wheels and corner armor. I had always been a fan of Walker Evans Beadlocks and a month or two ago a set came up on some Cooper STT Pro's. I ended up purchasing those, and selling my old 35's to my brother who bought...

Registering TJ as street legal OHV?

Can anyone point me in the right direction where I can learn about registering my Jeep as a street legal OHV? Mainly considering it so I don’t need to deal with mudflaps, or flares. It gets driven around town sometimes, and trailered everywhere else. I’m open to opinions whether it’s too much...

    Thoughts on Tire Plug Kits?

I am experimenting with wheeling w/o a spare tire. With this, #1 thing to me is I don't want to be a trail plug, or rely on those who carry spare tires. I am looking for a sufficient plug/patch kit that can get me off the trail when/if needed. Most kits I've found aren't much more than plugs...

I thought I may had a chance at the race with my small tires and 4.3 t-case gearing, until you showed up with your 4 speed, then the 'Yota's with 25" tires. At that point it was too late to turn back. But hey, I didn't come in last (first) at least.

The TJ has been running well. Went to the Vernal rock rally, and had a great time. Over the weekend, found a set of Walker Evans Racing Beadlocks on 37" Cooper STT Pro's. Took it out to West Mountain near Payson and flexed it last night to check out clearance issues. I apparently had too...

    Trip Report Vernal Rock Rally

I went! It was a great time. I ran Doc's Beach on Friday, and Red Mountain on Saturday. I was impressed with how well everything came together, especially for a 1st time event. Great time with obstacles at Doc's Beach from mild to wild. The main trail had a good amount of variety. Red...

What will you change after Covid?

I have more or less been living the Dave Ramsey lifestyle for the last number of years, but haven't been a potential dire straits situation to obtain a "testimony" of the lifestyle he propagates. The Covid situation has helped me contrast how I was living before we applied his principles, and...

Got everything back together, and driveable. Fabbed up the exhaust, and was able to get a shakedown run in this last weekend. 2 things need addressing at this point. At extreme full bump the driveshaft and front UCA contact each other, and the exhaust rattles against the gas tank. Both...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

My ARB rocker switch would light up when turned on, but would not kick on the compressor. Swapped relays, and did nothing, jumped the pressure switch, still nothing. Tore the dash apart and found out that one of the wires was loose. Now fixed.
