Jeep Commander 5.7 thoughts. 6.0 Tahoe or yukon or 8.1 suburban?

I tried to go check it out for Kevin, but the seller was not available at the same time I was.

Quick (hopefully) TBI 350 swap in my "Jeep"

I see what you're getting at, and I agree. I have no idea what the limits are for stock TBI programming/injectors/etc, but I'd wager they're pretty low. You'll clearly get much better performance with a 4-bbl style intake manifold, anyway. If you didn't want to switch to a carburetor, you...

Home Depot for the win!

The answer is (and always has been) an 8.1L Suburban.

Quick (hopefully) TBI 350 swap in my "Jeep"

That would be intriguing. I'm sure it's not gonna challenge my Edelbrock intake for power output, but I find it fascinating all the same. If you can find any info on this, please share it. EDIT: I found this Chevrolet intake: This will let you bolt your TBI to a pair of Vortec heads...

Quick (hopefully) TBI 350 swap in my "Jeep"

Those are two of the differences, yes. The intake port flows way better on the Vortec heads. There are even more rerasons why the Vortec heads blow away the similar-looking TBI heads, though. Dave Freiburger goes into great detail about this exact comparison in this video. Skip ahead to 4:55...

It's time for an EJS 2018 section of this forum

On Thursday I received my letter detailing my trail official assignments for EJS 2018. Sounds like time to create our annual RME forum to discuss it, no? ;)

To evap or not to evap? That is the question. Motor swap advice needed.

Okay, I'm sure that can be a factor. Touche'.

To evap or not to evap? That is the question. Motor swap advice needed.

This suggestion sounds fishy, and here's why. When I spoke to Mark at the DAQ in Spanish Fork (my local division location), he made it very clear: the initial inspection can only be performed at your local DAQ. These guys will (supposedly) go over your entire swap very carefully, making sure...

To evap or not to evap? That is the question. Motor swap advice needed.

As someone who began an emissions-legal engine swap years ago (5.0L Fox-body Mustang V8 into a 1991 Miata), I have spoken at length with the Department of Air Quality. These are the guys who must personally inspect and test your completed swap, declare it emissions legal, and sign off on it...

Because Roadkill, -or- I bought an old ugly domestic car

Actually, my first plan is to take it down to Tucson for the Roadkill Zip Tie Drags in January. :)

Because Roadkill, -or- I bought an old ugly domestic car

I've run through two tanks of fuel since the re-gear. I haven't exactly tried any hypermiling, so perhaps it's still too early to call, but so far my observed economy has seemed to drop by about 2 mpg compared to the 3.08 gears. Yesterday's fillup was calculated at 10.7 mpg. OTOH, I admit I...

Because Roadkill, -or- I bought an old ugly domestic car

Progress: I got the tires mounted on the "new" wheels and acquired the correct lug nuts to hold 'em in place. Just when I thought I was back on the road, the steering gearbox's small dribble of a leak turned into a constant stream of leaking fluid. I sourced an 800 fast ratio box for a Monte...

Northern Utah The 2017 Utah Gambler road rally/"Fall Crawl" is this coming weekend! Wait... what?

Well, last weekend was the first annual (?) Utah Gambler 500. Information on this event is extremely limited, which probably explains why they had such a small turnout. As of this moment, the organizers aren't even saying how many entrants they actually had; they are only saying the turnout...

Central Utah Anyone for a Hanging Tree run? (I hope I haven't missed the boat.)

Yeah, Saturdays are definitely tricky... but I might have to make one work. ;) BTW: I just found out my friend can't make it on Sun the 22nd anyway.

Okay, what weekend sounds good to you guys? Between this weekend and next weekend, Sunday the 22nd has the nicest forecast (sunny and 67^).

Whoops, let me clarify. He would come along as a passenger (and photographer).

Central Utah Anyone for a Hanging Tree run? (I hope I haven't missed the boat.)

Background: This spring, I made a new Jeep friend. He has a TJ on 33s and no experience. Took him to Forest Lake & Mineral basin and he thought he had died and gone to heaven. I told him he needs to see Hanging Tree someday, as a passenger since his rig is nowhere near built for it. He...

Did anyone here go on the Forest Service run to Forest Lake on Saturday?

On Saturday the 14th there was a Forest Service activity which involved building a kiosk (I think) in AF canyon. After the work was done, a large group of rigs went the rest of the way to Forest Lake. Did anyone from RME go on that run?

Northern Utah The 2017 Utah Gambler road rally/"Fall Crawl" is this coming weekend! Wait... what?

Yesterday, this appeared in my FB feed: https://www.facebook.com/events/658286434327654/?acontext=%7B%22ref%22%3A%2222%22%2C%22feed_story_type%22%3A%2222%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22null%22%7D&pnref=story Have any of you guys ever seen/heard of anything like this? I would love to...
