the single greatest heavy metal moment EVER

This just popped up in my FB feed... and I am nearly speechless. Imagine being at an outdoor Black Sabbath concert, with Ozzy at the mic. Partway through the set, he begins to sing Bark at the Moon... and, during the song, solar eclipse totality takes place overhead. Sound far fetched? Just...

Because Roadkill, -or- I bought an old ugly domestic car

THREAD UPDATE: I just went through this entire thread and updated all my photos... again. Now they are all hosted at Imgur and properly linked here. With any luck, this will keep them permanently visible. In other news, today I experienced something new with my Grand Prix. While coming back...

Thinking about a cheap Mazda Miata track car

This notion was started by the haters--oops, I mean purists --and it is still often thrown about by those who have not actually weighed a V8 Miata. As it turns out, the typical 302/T5 swapped Miata ends up with a 52/48 weight distribution. This hardly affects the balance of the car, as anyone...

I have a small concrete project I'd love to complete...

Well, the two houses directly across from me did this exact same thing a couple years ago on their respective properties... so I'd say I'm in the clear. I have an RV pad. I don't own an RV. The pad primarily serves as a parking spot for my trailer, though I sometimes will also park another...

I have a small concrete project I'd love to complete...

I have no idea how thick sidewalks are. But at only 4" deep, the calculator estimates I'd only need .70 cubic yard. Perhaps I'll start by using my brother-in-law's rototiller to break up the surface dirt, and shovel it out until it is maybe 6" deep. Then I'll lay down a small layer of fill...

I have a small concrete project I'd love to complete...

Umm, if somebody with personal experience wants to do this with me. ;) That sounds great--I didn't even know that was an option. The web site Jack posted has a concrete calculator. At 14x4 and 8" deep, I'd need 1.4 cubic yards total (which I didn't know until now). Like I say, I am...

I have a small concrete project I'd love to complete...

Years ago, I had an RV pad poured next to my house. I have been very happy with the results ever since. However, I am kicking myself because there is one small strip that I should have had them include at the same time... but I did not. I'd love to finally make up for that error. This is a...

Because Roadkill, -or- I bought an old ugly domestic car

You are exactly correct... so I did. I've been wanting to install a c-clip eliminator ever since I installed the Ford 8.8 axle. I finally acquired the Strange Engineering kit, which also includes an upgrade to 31-spline axles from my stock 28-spline shafts. That means I'll need to swap in a...

    Decent TBI 350...

THIS. Despite what the LS crowd might tell you, the traditional small block Chevy V8 is still the cheapest engine on the planet to (re)build... by a long shot.

We're stumped: why would a Chevy 350 have (almost) no oil pressure?

I mentioned this idea to Mike. He says he clearly recalls how he was about to remove one of those plugs, but then thought better of it and did not touch them. Of course, I suppose one of them might have blown out... so he may still check on that. Don't tell Mike I said this, but: if you have...

We're stumped: why would a Chevy 350 have (almost) no oil pressure?

We are willing to accept this as a possibility. Mike freely admits he knows nothing about the background/history of this used block. We did do that with the new pump, and he also did so with the old pump. Unless he gets hit by some sudden inspiration, I think that's exactly what will happen.

We're stumped: why would a Chevy 350 have (almost) no oil pressure?

Mike did buy a new pickup for the new pump. In both cases, he tack welded them to their pump to ensure they would stay in place.

We're stumped: why would a Chevy 350 have (almost) no oil pressure?

I spent a couple hours helping my friend Mike wrenching on his CJ5 last night. The newly-rebuilt engine starts and runs, but only makes 7-10 psi of oil pressure. We cannot figure out why. Let me give you all lots of background info to see if there is something we are missing. Mike bought...

So I got a V12 BMW. Fools errand or Awesome

May God have mercy on your soul... and wallet. (I frequent The Car Lounge forum, where this model is well documented as being a fiscal and electronic nightmare. I wish you the very best of luck.)

Visiting Salt Lake City in October - trail recommendations for rental jeep?

Since you're obviously not from Utah, where do you live? We will try to recommend the best scenery that won't remind you of home (hopefully).

    the bicyclist and the farmer

While riding one day, a lone biker came upon a farmer riding a horse with a dog and a sheep walking alongside. The biker began a conversation. Biker: “That's a nice dog you got there. Mind if I speak to him?” Farmer: “Dogs don’t talk.” Biker: “Hey, dog, how’s it going?” Dog: “I'm doin’...

    Attention Pontiac owners !!!

I really liked this Buick. So simple, so clean, and it had factory bucket seats with a floor shift/console.

    Attention Pontiac owners !!!

The announcer said that ultimately over 200 cars had shown up and registered. There was a nice mix of vehicles: lots of muscle cars, some older from the 50s and on back into the 20s (!), a small variety of trucks, a few Jeeps including one CJ5 and one KJ, some rat rods, a Lamborghini, and even...
