Anybody interested in another post-license ham radio class?

GREAT NEWS! I have a venue reserved for Monday evening: the conference room at my dealership (it's in the Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep building). There is a large table with space for a dozen people; in addition, there are another 14 or 15 chairs arranged around the perimeter of the room. That should...

Anybody interested in another post-license ham radio class?

I have not done this, primarily because my Yaesu FT-7900R does not have that capability. Be advised: it's a bit of a tricky situation. Even if your radio has the physical capability, to use it legally in this manner means you as the operator must configure it so that it (automatically)...

Anybody interested in another post-license ham radio class?

I know this is short notice, but I am contemplating Monday, March 27th (six days from now). Does that work for you guys?

Anybody interested in another post-license ham radio class?

EDIT: I have arranged to use the conference room at Doug Smith Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep in American Fork on Monday, March 27th from 6pm to 8pm. In the spirit of the upcoming Easter Jeep Safari--where vehicle communication is a very good thing--would anyone be interested in holding another hands-on...

    Your favorite car T.V. shows

As a car guy, I feel I really ought to watch the car shows on TV. There's no way we'll get more (read: better) content if we don't support what we already have, right? The problem is, I just can't do it. I can't stand all this fake, scripted "reality" BS. You can practically hear the...

Because Roadkill, -or- I bought an old ugly domestic car

Brain fart! This morning it dawned on me: in last night's post I completely forgot to mention curb weight. Yesterday while on a casual drive in the GP, I realized I was in the general area of the recycling yard where I weigh my vehicles. The car was relatively empty as far as needless cargo...

Because Roadkill, -or- I bought an old ugly domestic car

I've put close to 300 miles on the new engine by now. Things seem to be working reasonably well. There are still carburetor quirks, of course, and those just make me want to install my EFI sooner rather than later. But I need to shift my focus to Jeep prep for EJS, so I doubt I'll do anything...

Anybody need a big block Olds 455 engine?

I took a walk through the Pick N Pull on 33rd today and saw they had this '68 Toronado in stock: That's a complete 455 engine, which doesn't exactly grow on trees anymore. I thought I'd mention it here just in case somebody could use it for an Oldsmobile project. OTOH, if you want to...

of Mike Musto and your unfinished project car (or Jeep)

As some of you probably know, there is a newer show on Motor Trend on Demand which is hosted by Mike Musto, called the House of Muscle. In each episode, he selects some random dude's older domestic car and profiles both the car and the owner. He tries to take an authoritative look at the car...

    '73 FSJ -- powertrain options?

My co-worker Mike has a friend with a '73 FSJ that he may transfer to Mike as part of some swap deal. Mike asked me if he should be interested. Sure, I said. He asked me about its possible driveline; all he knows is his buddy says it's a V8 automatic. Mike instantly assumed it would be a...

Anybody here running an Edelbrock Air Gap intake manifold? On anything?

#1: 16^ initial, and whatever my Summit brand OEM-replacement HEI distributor gives me. #2: I have not even opened the distributor. I just removed it from the box, installed it in the car, and connected wires (and a vacuum line).
