my XJ did that and i just swapped to a new cap and blew out the breather hoses and it hasn't done it since.

check the voltage on the TPS, if its off it'll give it hard starts.

if you take the stockton way, i can guarantee you there's still snow up there and you may not make it to jacob city. go the ophir way (its a neater drive anyway) the get there turn at the ophir turnoff from hwy 73 and there will be a dirt parking area on your left just after the cattle guard...
