Machined some duelly hubs to single wheel hubs again and replaced some metal on a race canned ham. The factory metal on any sxs is paper.

No. I'm parting it off in the lathe in that pick. Rear got shortened 4 inches and front lengthened 4inches. The doubler is exactly 6" longer so the manual must be a couple inches shorter than the auto.

Thats pretty common in the semi industry. A smart mechanic will put the new ones in the shop fridge feezer first and then welded and remove the old one. The welding will warm up the hub enough that new frozen ones will practically drop in.
