Brake fluid is designed to absorb water so you lines dont rust on the inside. Its not good to buy brake fluid in large containers and or leave the lids off them unless your using it as it will absorb water from the air thats why you skin feels like its falling off when you get it on your hands.

I would like to still go with the 17th as planned. I wouldnt worry about trail plugs too bad. There is only a couple of spots that if someone broke would it would be hard to move them for other to go by. If there was a group slowing you down then that just sounds like a good time for lunch to me.
