Ive been home for a while now. Meant to update this while I was riding but I kept putting it off. After getting off the ferry in Portland, Maine I cut across New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York and headed towards Niagara Falls. The roads back east I wasnt impressed with coming from the west...

The diff breather looks like nothing more than a manifold for an air compressor. Id just plumb your lines into a 4 block manifold and run single or double breather/filter.

Can you tell me how to ID carriers with no ring gear?

You can measure the carrier deck heights and usually get a good idea. Carriers like a Ford 9" dont have a split but they have their own look and are easy to spot if youve been around them once. http://www.differentials.com/technical-help-2/carrier-breaks/

    BMW F800gs

Rode through New Brunswick Canada and down the coast of Nova Scotia and spent the night on the southern end. I decided to save some time and miles by taking the ferry back across the Gulf of Maine to Portland, Maine. Loaded on the ferry and there were 7 other Adventure bikes in 3 separate...

Ive taken Coastal Route 1 all the way to the border. Passing through all the towns is slow going and I'm not covering as much ground as I had hoped. It also rained pretty good one day and I found out what was waterproof and what isn't. Acadia National park was awesome. Definitely coming back to...

    BMW F800gs

The bike and the motor seem great so far. It has plenty of power. Infact I haven't even had to pull it past 6k rpms yet (red line is 8500). No problem matching freeway traffic on an on ramp. Even in a higher gear. When I was reading up on the bike there was a company that sells a "progammer" of...

Rained like crazy today and it really slowed me down. Got a hotel Just outside of Acadia and am going to dry out. The whole rest of the weekend is supposed to be dry and hot. Got to see the Bath shipyards where ship building in the US began.

Decided not to explore the Cape and just head north. I'm headed back this way at the end of the week so maybe then. Rode along coastal route 1 and saw the Hamptons and all the cool coastal towns. Tons of ridiculous homes right off the beach. Crossed into Maine in the evening and Headed to...

    BMW F800gs

Loaded up yesterday at my hotel. Flew out here with my pack and a box with my panniers. The panniers are made by Mosko Moto and are phenomenal. Was able to install them in the parking lot. Only requires an Allen key to install them and the company provides them. They're universal so they'll fit...

Walked all around down town Boston today. BMW F800gs

Went and bought a 2014 BMW F800gs. The only problem was that it was in Massachusetts. X-D Left today to fly out to Boston, visit some friends and ride it back. Probably going to head north a bit first and see Nova Scotia & New Foundland. Then make the trek back west.

Best place to buy steel in Salt Lake (N. UT county is fine too)?

I always use Affiliated metals off Wright Brothers drive. Metalmart was always twice the price they were on items.

Trading a RTT for a high quality ground tent?

I use the Nemo Dark Timber for car camping. Well built and gets compliments on it everywhere its set up. But it is more complicated than most the tents mentioned in this thread. Its kind of a retro throw back to the old canvas tents. You can also set up just the rainfly for use as a quick...

Jeep My Overland Project, the RME JKU

We are backwards. Wiring is the easy part for me. I did a dual battery swap in my Bronco years ago. My JK had the Genesis kit in it, but someone or the owner removed the whole top section from the Jeep when it went through insurance. So I have the tray, just not the hold down bracket or the...

Thought of building your own dual battery setup? The hardest part would probably be the tray. But here are the major electrical components in the Genesis kit...

For Sale - Firm Price Smittybilt Roof top tent

Heres a picture of the bottom side of the Yakima tent. Pretty much constructed the exact same way, just with better materials. Aluminum angle stock is used around the perimeter, held on by rivets. Pop those off, replace the panel, and reinstall the aluminum.

For Sale - Firm Price Smittybilt Roof top tent

I picked up a Yakima RTT at the REI garage sale last Saturday for a killer deal, or I wouldnt be selling this one. Then I got the Yakima home and found out it didnt have the rain fly. My "killer" deal shifted to a "good" deal after pricing the replacement parts out.
