    Any Mtn Bikers on RME?

I think I need to give up. I'm just too uncoordinated and getting too old to heal fast enough. On the upside we did clear 3 trees off the path so I got that going for me. :)

Tricks to get a Job Done Easier

the lab grade wash bottle (with the hooked spout on the top) I bought that is specifically for acetone is low density polyethylene (LDPE). The mustard bottle is high density polyethylene (HDPE) and is quite immune as well.

I use a lot of acetone to clean steel and aluminum before I weld. this is the best dispenser I've found to date. HDPE mustard squeeze bottle is unaffected by acetone.

    MIG Welding with Gas

So I bought my MIG welder about 5 years ago. At that time I found a full 200cf tank on KSL for $150. I don't do a ton of welding, but I've done a fair amount (30lbs of wire) and I'm down to about 800psi out of the original 2200psi. The only issue is to have it re-certified for pressure. The...

    MIG Welding with Gas

An 80cf tank (one of the smallest) of C25 won't fit under your bench at 36" tall. If you really have the size constraint and want to use gas, you could possibly rig up a straight CO2 setup. I've heard of people using paintball tanks for this or maybe a PowerTank if you have one for wheelig...

Shop / Tools Opportunity to learn/experience welding... Episode 1

Man does aluminum take some amps  Ashton was doing some TIG practice yesterday. 1/4" aluminum T joint. With the metal cold, it took about 4 seconds to get a puddle formed with the current set to 220A (max) and the pedal floored. Once things heated up a bit, he ran around 180A. If I wanted...

Tricks to get a Job Done Easier

And one more: I'm a little lacking for bench space so I made this turntable thing from a 12" swivel bearing and 3/4" plywood. There is a hole in the center where the cords drop through the top and a stop to limit it to 1 full turn so the cords don't twist up.

    late model F150 discussion

Even when not towing, the Ecoboost is a joy to drive in the mountains. Heading to Price with a bed full of camping gear and cruise set on 65, the truck never downshifts and the RPM's sit at about 1700.

Tricks to get a Job Done Easier

I hate working on the ground so sawhorses are a must but most are so bulky and hard to store. I came up with this design a few years ago. I made four of these from 3/4" and 1" conduit and usually top them with plywood or a couple of old hollow core doors. They are surprisingly strong and fold...
