I changed an inner hub seal on the buggy, which was a seriously filthy job. Gonna try one of the new style seals with separate rotating parts. Then I loaded that junk on the Jeep Dolly and cruised down to Kevin Boren’s house, where I’m now hiding out in his basement. 😀

Front and rear coilovers done. The new springs dropped the rear 4” to a much more reasonable ride height (thanks @RockChucker for the help). The front reservoirs were quite a challenge to mount. Still a couple more details until I’m ready for Trail Hero.

The whole face of the wheel. Alcoa tried a new lightened design, but they used the wrong alloy in production. Our 2025’s are affected, and sometime around 2016 they did the same thing. You can usually spot the thinner material on the wheel centers.

Check any wheels you find really close for cracks. We’ve had a few big recalls on alcoas lately.

The old ones did leak. I liked both of my Detroits, but one of them was prone to a specific fuel leak issue. The cups surrounding the injectors would crack and leak fuel into the antifreeze. That usually happened at much higher mileage than yours has. I wanna say 275-300k.
