    Out of State Move?

I've moved around my entire life. I grew up as an Air Force Brat then did a short stint in the Army. After the Army I rode my GSXR 750 around the country for a bit while my stuff was stored at my Dad's place. I lived in Arizona, California, New York state, Massachusetts, South Carolina and...

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

you'll definitely want to stabilize that bad boy. My 300# XT250 on the hydraulic rack bounces around A LOT! Now with the stuff I've attached to the van's rear doors I can actually run a couple of straps from the rack up high on the ladder on one side and the rack on the other. It really helped...

    Positive or Inspiring Quotes

“A jack of all trades, master of none is oftentimes better than a master of one.” William Shakespeare Often this quote is only the first part “a jack of all trades, master of none” which can be somewhat belittling to the jack of all trades. As soon as I found the rest of the quote it is in...

    BlackSheep's Bar-B van

I let the systems run through the night to see what my draw was like and more importantly whether 200W of solar on the roof would recharge the battery. Good news, it took less than 2 hours in full sun. Here’s the state of charge at 8:38am: That is the detail screen from the Victron Smart Shunt...

    BlackSheep's Bar-B van

It's been a bit since my last update. I got the interior back together and went to install the house battery and the battery failed. I can't determine if it was something I did or not but the battery started showing a high voltage error on one of its cells on one day, then the next day it just...

Info on 4X4 in Utah from canada

Don't let what anyone says about Fins and Things discourage you from running the trail. It is super fun. Is it as difficult as Hells Revenge? No, but i would not consider Fins and Things 'just a touristy thing'. It gives you an amazing introduction to the (Sand Flats) area.

    BlackSheep's Bar-B van

I've spent a lot of time working on the installation of the Espar heater. Nothing exciting about the wiring so no photos. It's just about done, once I re-install the electrical box I'll finish the connections to the negative bus and the fuse block. Hopefully in the next couple days. I...

    BlackSheep's Bar-B van

Mostly working on installation of the Espar today. Wiring is complete except for the actual connections to the fuse block and negative bus. Started working under the van to route the intake, exhaust and fuel pump / lines. Hopefully finish that up tomorrow. The van is so high I needed a grab...

    BlackSheep's Bar-B van

Another slightly stressful task (half) completed. I ordered a set of Flarespace Flares for my van, knowing that with the slider door the passenger side may not fit. Expensive but I’m not tossing the passenger side away, just delaying trying to install until next winter. More on that later. I...

    BlackSheep's Bar-B van

Wow! Another big day today. I started out the day sanding the bumpers, the flare and the roof. I’m not a paint pro so I used my orbital sander with 80 grit and a spare piece of 80 grit for touch up where the sander didn’t quite do the job. Then I had to mask the van. What a job! Up and down...

The only photo from today is the painted and mounted equipment carrier. You can’t even see the paint. 🤣 Other things I worked on: Sanding the sharp corners of the new wood on the electrical box. Coated with stain once I was satisfied with the sanding. Shot a little paint in there as well...
