Where do you draw the line? Do you toss it because of the date stamped on it, or do you give it the sniff test? AND still eat it?

I would call Signature Truck Equipment or D & A Truck. I've never tried to buy it. I've only bought trucks that had it, and I had to remove it, always threw it away.

I have had problems with EVERY auto tranny that I have had rebuilt. We're talking about 12-13 years history here. I would go with a new trans, (finances permitting) or get a used one. Used or rebuilt is a gamble if you ask me. Used should be cheaper, and if it dies you won't be nearly as pissed...

Changing guages won't change your valve chatter......Toyota motors tend to do that. My F, 2F, 22RE motors have all had valve/lifter noise. Unless it is VERY bad, I wouldn't worry about it.
