    BIG Winch Placement

Thanks for the great idea Greg. I was thinking of making a cradle that hooked up to the front and rear bumper using 2-3 receiver hitch holes but center mounting the winch is a sweet idea. Then I would not have to lug the winch cradle around and find a place to store it on the truck. I will have...

    BIG Winch Placement

I am mounting a Superwinch 16.5 on my Unimog 404.0. I had a bumper made that turned out great but I have one reservation. It sticks our pretty far. My approach angle has suffered with this huge winch on the nose of the truck. For some it wouldn't be a big deal but I can think of some obstacles...

    Changes to Cliff Hanger trail?

It could of been covered up by now, but I remember it was right after that last large ledge about a hundred feet after the main group of ledges when the trail takes a 90 degree right turn and down into the stream bed. I just remember it being a really nasty off camber drop off next to a ledge...

    Changes to Cliff Hanger trail?

The only area I really noticed that was considerably easier was the sharp right after the last large step. It used to be a pretty nasty V with a drop off but now it is filled in with concrete and no problem at all. It is still one of my favorite trails.

    Stereos and rock buggies

I just put this in my RZR and it works awesome. It would work just as well in a full size rig too. http:/http://www.ssvworks.com/sc-am4313.html The volume control is nice to have. The wireless one looks pretty sweet too, just didn't want to spend the extra cash...

General Tech Is this To LOW?

Well...after going back and forth on this and talking with people who actually use the crawler box I think I am going to do it. I will still have the option of the normally low 1st and 2nd. This will just be another option. I was under the assumption that I would loose my normal crawling ratio...

General Tech Is this To LOW?

You would be able to shift out of it but it is not seamless. It is kind of interesting. You shift into 1 and 2 and then to get to 3-6 you actually have to smack the shifter over into the other set of gears. On the road you start out in 3rd similar to a larger truck.

General Tech Is this To LOW?

It does not affect the 2 reverse gears. If I have read correct, you shift into these gears with the reverse lever in neutral to even get them to enguage. I am kind of leaning toward not getting them. I have looked into them even more and I have found out that they are pretty fragile. I guess...

General Tech Is this To LOW?

I was offered a crawler box to throw in the Unimog. This is set of gears that are bolt on and only affect the first two gears (basically the low gears). But I am afraid that they will be to slow. Here are the numbers. What do you think?

8.1L Suburban vs 6.0 PSD Excursion

John and I are going to test drive a 2004 8.1L Burb tomorrow. If drives well we might have to bring it by your shop to have you check it out. It has kind of high miles so I am not sure what shape the motor is in...

8.1L Suburban vs 6.0 PSD Excursion

My wife has a head on her shoulders, but if I asked her to watch a pyrometer and other gauges I would be out of luck. I sometimes have to remind her to put gas in the truck.

8.1L Suburban vs 6.0 PSD Excursion

We have an 02 Z71 and I really like it for what it is. It has always towed really well with my 18ft Big Bubbas and the Pinz. The 5.3 is just not enough for what I need anymore..

8.1L Suburban vs 6.0 PSD Excursion

I guess the title was a little misleading. I too looked into the whole debate between the 7.3 and 6.0. There are some good videos on YouTube on the subject. If I do decde to go with diesel, it most likely would be the 7.3. With you having that motor, would you let your wife drive it around in...
