I would but my jeep has 20,000 miles and his has 92,000 miles.
Plus mine is lifted with arb's front and rear and his is stock.
Thanks for the input.

I know you are prolly looking for more of an answer than this BUT, I would first start by figuring out exactly what trannies you have (5-speed manual is Ax-15 to get ya started :D) then find out as much info about those trannies as you can, find out about any sensors they have or need, find out if they are computer controlled, etc. Then deciding if its worth the swap will be much easier. Chances are you will ATLEAST have to swap drivelines, belly pan, computers, possibly t-cases, etc. Depends on how much its really worth to you, and if his auto has 92K on it, I would make him pay for a rebuild before I EVER considered trading...

Is it the 3 or 4 speed auto? The 4 speeds are well known for having bugs that needed to be worked out when first introduced (and they may have never been worked out, I dunno...).

I would not swap, one the auto has a slipping problem when climing even with a deep oil pan and driving around the the jeep I6 does not have the power even with 4.88 & 35 my buddy has an auto I have the 5 speed. The 5 speed is a quite strong it's a NV3550. just my 2 cents worth good luck.

I would personnaly keep the 5 spd, IMO. Youll have to start by switching pedals, linkage, clutch plates, consoles, shifters, torque converter, fly wheel, etc. Mounting to the 4.0 block will be the only thing that stays the same.

And to piggy back, I havnt heard many good things about the autos.
