ok guys

im on my second 1.6 in two years both have bad oil pumps i think????????

the first one would sqeal quite loudlyon start up when cold and then just started pukeing oil...........so i did what any other cheap skate would do and just dropped another 1.6 in and vowed i would find out what happened to it and repair so i would have a spare motor or put it into the sj 410 tin top that i have been threatening to biuld for the last couple years.....

well true too form i never got around too even looking at the first motor much less fixing it and my current 1.6 starts this uneven rattle in the front of the motor on the bottom end......once again i think its the oil pump......

this sux,s.......im gonna hve to put in my last spare motor a g 13b out of a swift
but i am really starting to get bummed out ive been changing motors more than ive been changing tire,s.........

the list..........

g 13 b

g 13 a

g 16 a

g 16 a

and now im back too were i started from in the begining a g 13 b........

why if i could lay my hands on an aluminum v-6 i would be changing platforms real quick............

my garage looks like a war zone.......

but it looks as though i will be doing battle once again and sooner than i wanted too :mad2:

but have any of you had this kind of luck with the 1.6 8v motors........

I have always heard that the 8V motors have bottom end problems and the cranks are kinda weak. Tear into that motor and find out whats wrong, it isn't that hard, probably an hour or so until you could have the thing laying out on a table to inspect.

how long that will be is unknown....;...

some thing that has been rolling around in what left of my mind is.....

useing a 1.6 crank in a 1.3 block or vice versa only time will tell

Have you thought of using a pre- oiler? I guess it would be a PIA to pre- oil before you start up every time though.

no can do

the oil pump on these things are flat out wierd ..........

it is mounted on the front of the engine and the crank passes thruogh its middle so the only way to make it pump is turn the crank.........

also the pumps in both cases have not stopped working totaly .....they seem too have some output.....at least enough to keep the idiot light from comeing on....... :-\

ok so that is what that was for

my first 13 b had that sensor that you spoke but i never had a clue as to what it actualy was {i thought it was a crank sensor or some such thing}.....

my newest motor does not have this sensor at all......i was just going too put a 1.6 head on it .....and run the webber and the sammi disty......i pulled this motor out of a swift{the rear end had been burnt alon with the passenger compartment.......most of the under dash wireing had been melted on the passenger side but ammazeingly enough the ecu was almost untouched just a little smokey on the cover}........

the guy i bought the car from hacked out sections of the wireing harness in the engine compartment so i was not even gonna think about trying too save the efi setup.........

the first 13 b with the odd sensor any ideal what it came from??????????

the bottom end is still good i just ran the rings out of it cyl #3 was barely getting 100 psi when changed it out................

update

i just flat wore it out........i took the timeing cover off of it readjusted the belt tennsion and fired her up..............lo and behold the timeing belt is just jumping around like it was danceing...........

cam journels in the head NOT they are all hogged out.....by what i dont know.....
the crank is doing the same dance too except it has some end play in it to give it an extra kick :mad2: .............

i never had problems like this with the 1.3,s i just ran the rings out of them.....

something is telling me that the 1.6 will not last very long if you run them at 5000 plus rpm,s for long periods of time{like on an interstate hiway}...

well there goes my moab trip loot.......
