Running 205/75 15. Chip's Grand Tire in Moab hooked me up with a Hercules 10 ply tire to get home. Considering snagging three more of those or ??? What are people running in 15" trailer tires with any success?

Load range E truck tires.

Trailer tires are meant to fail..

Agreed, but I'm having issue finding a 15" E-rated truck tire. Please let me know if you find one ;)

16" tires will cost me a wee bit. Axles are about $150 per for six lug? Then wheels and tires.

...although I could try to fit my stock 17" JK wheels on there with some spacers (not a fan of spacers on a trailer)?

The 225-75R15 load range D trailer tires are a huge improvement over the 205-75R15 load range C. The size can also be found in E easier than the 205's, but you don't really need them.

Years ago the 205's were good, but somewhere around the mid-2000's the trailer tire manufacturing went to China so now you have to step up a size to get the same reliability. I used 205's in the 90's to early 2000's on my 7000lb trailer. I could run them down to the steels belts before replacing them. Those tires were made in Mexico or Brazil. Then, I started blowing them out all the time on the highway. There always seemed to be at least 1 going flat in the driveway. One trip from Boise to Moab, I blew 3 going there and 1 back. These were newish with lots of tread. Switched to the 225's, and the blowouts and flats almost disappeared.

I've been running 225's on my 16' trailer for several years.

I swear the best tires were the radial car tires that were on it when I got it. I later went to "trailer tires" when they started getting worn, but I never had an issue with them. I seem to lose a trailer tire every year or two and I don't tow that often. We'll see what happens with the big trailer.

I am running 225's and loose 1 or 2 a year, it sucks to have them last only 2k to 3k miles

... One unexplained phantom blowout. Three others that weren't the tire's fault: big lag bolt through the tread, tree branch through the sidewall, and flat-spotted due to that tire was only one with working brakes.

I was running 10 ply 15"ers on my flatbed trailer.

Mine came from Les Schwab. They were about 120 each but I got 4 years out of them before I lost one. I replaced them with the same tire before I sold the trailer. If I ever need them again thats what I would get. They were called Gladiators.

I am moving to 16" LT "E" rated tires for the bigger trailers - working very well. I have had very good luck with Carlisle 205/??/15 trailer tires from Discount. Just replaced a set of 4 last year on an 18 foot jeep hauler. I imagine they lasted 8-9 years. All four tires wore evenly and the tread was about gone. They are even mounted on 8 1/2" wide rims (wider than recommended) I just replaced with another set of the same tires....... Don't know why, but these have done quite well on that trailer.

High Speed rated 14.5"s. Load range F, 14-ply. $80 Sampson brand. I could drive my trailer like a monster truck and not lose a tire.

But if you must go 15's- the best tire I ran, bar none, was used LT D rated BFG AT's. Seriously. You know my penchant for murdering trailer tires.

Give Garth a call.
Fyi,
I started parking mine on wood instead of the concrete or dirt and have not had an issue and was able to wear out a set.
I also try to keep the sun off of them.
Also most shops laugh but balancing seems to help especially when empty.
There's 2 cents
