Roxie Glover, a spokeswoman for Wickenburg Community Hospital, said officials had told her to expect injured firefighters -- but then she was told they weren't coming.

It was all over the news yesterday, IMHO it sucks that folks died trying to save homes that were built knowing they are in a higher fire risk area.

It was all over the news yesterday, IMHO it sucks that folks died trying to save homes that were built knowing they are in a higher fire risk area.

I never had to fight structure or neighborhood fires, but the same thought occurred to me back in the day - that's exactly the sort of terrain that you DON'T fight fire in, precisely because it's a hell of a lot more dangerous. Until some asshole puts in a subdevelopment, and then you HAVE to fight right there. On it's own turf. It isn't safe.
