Ok so I its been a few years since I've been on here or worked on my rig. I married now with 3 little boys and the 85 Pick up wont fit us all. We bought a house and now I have a shop again...yeah.

So I'm putting a 1985 4-runner body on my 1985 X-tra cab chassis, so far so good, I just need to find some body mounts I can weld onto the frame because only the front 4 line up. Where do I get these?

Here's some pics I just started the re-build last week.

Ok pics aren't working very good just got the one to go.

I know that Gen-Right Offroad sales a kit for Jeeps. Maybe it could be the same dimensions?

know anyone selling another good runner body??

Theres a couple on KSL but people want 14-1500 bucks for them. Mine has some body damage on the pass. side but it's not too bad. It's gonna get more anyways. Just didn't want any rust. I'll keep looking though. I made money off this one after I parted it out and got the body free. :D

CHANGE OF PLANS

Ok so I found the chassis I need to make a truggy, so I'm putting a tacoma rear-end and stock toyota front axle under the 4runner, and pull the T-Case for the truggy. Then I guess the runner will have to wait.

I'm planning on a 4-link for the rear on the truggy and keep the leafs up front until I get more $$$. So if all goes to plan I'll have a toyota based chassis with a 4.3 V6 with a TH350 tranny and 4.7-1 toyota t-case. Ford HP front axle and 9" rear with 5.13 and detroits.

I already have the t-case axles and drivelines. (probably have to shorten though) and the axles and tires.

It all sounds good to me but any advice? Warnings? Do's or Don'ts?

Also have an extra T-case to put back on the runner. So the runner with be street legal again and I'll have a crawler to take on the hard stuff.

I'll post pics as I get them and keep udates coming. Any advise and or opinions are welcome.

Also can anyone tell me why my uploads fail when I try to post pics. All except that one that went.

Ok it's official, I bought Bart's truggy and toys4rocks adapter and I'm ready to go. I got my HP 44 off my 4-runner and under the truggy. Everything lined up perfectly except the shackles. I guess I need some that widen out at the top to fit through the toyota pick up frame. I'm still trying to get pics to upload.

Ok, got a little done today. Got the old pickup truck floor cut out of the buggy and pulled out un-neeeded junk in the way. ie: heater core and plumbing, parts of dash, and a few little things.

Also got the D44 under the front just need to pick up shackles and get some new bolts.

Put bent Toyota axle under 4-runner so I can roll it out of the shop get the buggy in there. Put Taco axle back together and wanted to pull the 9" on the runner but ran out of time. Or...(fell asleep on the couch after dinner):-\

Hopefully I'll get some more done tomorrow and take some more pics before it's too dark.

I did get the shocks disconnected though.

Finally

Ok, I got the shackles bolted up and the front tires on so I could roll the Buggy off the trailer into the shop. Then I took it to the car wash and gave it a bath before I put it in the shop.

I Took a few pics, I think it might be a little tall so I might pull the center leaf on the front springs, but we'll wait and see. Also got the TH350 with my Toyota T-case bolted up and just need to adjust my crossmember to fit the toy t-case with the adaptor.

Also had a question, how do I know when the motor,tranny,t-case is sitting where it should be and it's not too low or high? Does it need to be perfect?.... Or just close? I have it resting on the crossmember right now but it's custom so I don't know if it's sitting straight enough?

I try to get more pics tomorrow, but I'm excited to see it coming together.

Next plans are to finish the crossmember and then get started on my One-link for the rear.
