2.5 liter stalling on steep uphills, please help

You're all WEAK SAUCE!
As stated in the title my jeep stalls on uphills. It cuts out and backfires when I try to give it gas on steep climbs. Only really steep, like when I need low range. If I can idle up it, it is fine but if it's steep enough to require some throttle it acts up.

It's a 1990 yj. It has a new fuel filter, fuel pump, and tank so I can mostly rule those out. I can't mimic it on flat ground.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

It's just running out of power on hills..

Have you checked you fuel pressure? Your regulator might be returning all of the fuel back to the tank.

Was full of gas. It's not just running out of power, it is crapping out and sputtering and backfiring.

I need to check fuel pressure, but I don't exactly know how. That might be a start.

Slide underneath of it and pound on the CAT and see if it rattles. It could be loose and sliding back plugging the pipe. Usually it will do it just by driving normally but it may be showing up while going uphill. Just a thought.
