Honda designed the throttle position sensor on the bottom of the throttle body and with non-slotted heads on the two screws holding it to the tb. They want you to take it to the dealer and pay upwards of $1000 for a new tb just to replace a $30 part on most cars and trucks. Aha! I found a way around them. Still pricey, but the Acura RSX sites talk about this problem and there is an aftermarket TPS available from Import Auto Performance in Iowa (
www.iapdirect.com). $149, but better than $1000. They also give some direction on installation. Worth calling them to make you feel better about tackling this job. You should be a descent backyard mechanics before doing this, but not a hard job. Taking the throttle body off is somewhat timely, disconnect vacuum hoses and electrical plugs (remember where the go). The hardest part was taking off the water lines to the tb. But you can do this. One the tb is off, the tps is on the back side. I took a good hack saw blade and make a single slot in each screw head. Take your time and make a deep and accurate slot. I then took a slotted screw driver and gentle unscrewed the two screws. Make sure your slots are deep, but not all the way through the heads or it could break off. The new tps comes with hex screws ( Honda should have done this in the first place). Put everything back and fire it up. You also need to replace the gasket where the throttle body meets the manifold. The dealer did have this for $16.
