2006 Xterra off road rear axle parts

My co-worker has a 2006 Xterra off road package with a manual transmission. It has a Dana M226 rear axle with E-locker and 3.69 gear ratio. Last week he broke a side gear which also stripped the splines on a shaft. We can find the shafts from Nissan (for almost $500!) but no luck with the side gear. Any ideas? Parts for the non E-locker version are pretty easy to find but the E-locker/3.69 combo are being very difficult to source. I told him I would post up here to get the collective knowledge of the best group on the internet. Are the Titan side gears the same? Frontier? Best case we find an aftermarket source for the shaft and side gear at a reasonable price. Thanks!

For $500 I'd be looking at a wrecking yard. if you know what years are compatible you can do the non-interchange search to widen your parts: https://car-part.com/noninterchange.htm
If the 3.69 ratio is too rare maybe even swap the front from the same vehicle you source the rear.
