Hey guys, i just got on Project JK forum and was going to post a thread with a JK build of a customers of mine ( i figured there were a lot of JK owners there that would like to see the build up), but as soon as i posted a thread i got slammed with an infraction and told i cant post a build up unless I pay them money. So their loss is your gain (hopefully you like).

I just got a customers 2008 Rubicon in and am excited to put some parts on. So i will post the entire build up on here with pics for all to see. Let me know what you think, Pro's, Con's, and whatever. Hope this thread will help anyone building a JK

Thanks, Dallas

My Customers 2008 Jeep Rubicon 2 Door is getting Moab Ready.

Last YearI Got his 2003 Jeep set up for Moab and he went down there and decided that a new Rubicon was in order.

So we did some research and came up with a few ideas. Here is the before pic.

The lift was the First order of business. Going over all the reviews I could find, and using my own knowledge of suspensions, i decided to recommend the Rock Krawler Lift kit. 3" short arms (kind of a mid arm) and 35" tires. I knew that no matter what lift was chosen, the shocks made the ride, so i steered him toward the Fox 2.0 Reservoir shocks with the clicker adjuster. I think that this combo would give the best on and off-road (Moab style) performance for the best price (granted it is around $3000 bucks).

Next was the wheel and tire selection. You can never go wrong with 17" Walker Evans Wheels and 35x12.5 r17 BFG tires (new mud terrains). 3.75 inch backspacing to keep the big tires out of the shocks and coils..

Bumpers were our next line of business. after looking around for bumpers the Hansen Rear that was at SEMA was a must, and a front stubby. The front bumpers seemed hard to come by because no one had them in stock and it was 2-6 weeks till they shipped. Well We settled on a MORE bumper and got that ordered (without powder coat so i could put the stuff for a tow bar on it).

And what jeep is complete without a Warn Winch and a Master Pull winch rope to sit on top of the MORE bumper.

next I will go down to Geno at Twisted Tubing and we will build a Cage in the Jeep. Anyone who has been to Moab knows that when (not if) you roll it is nice to be protected.

More info and build pics to come...

Sounds like a great plan so far. You might want to check out some of the skid plate stuff from Kilby Enterprises. They make an Evap Canister relocation kit the protects it. Scroll down on this page to see it. Brad thinks of all the little stuff like this because he really wheels his JK.

Cool Stuff, Front JK bumper looks nice and small, how do I get hooked up as a dealer, mr "Kilby sponsored Bart", so I can see about getting my customer some stuff.

Got the Walker Evans wheels (post price after powdercoating is done)yesterday, and then dropped them off at the powdercoaters.

They are the polished variety, and I am doing a clear powdercoat on them to keep the polish from oxidizing in the Oregon weather, Polishing wheels is a pain.

Also on the cage will be two rings to hook the Crowe Lap Belts (2 x $45) too. These will keep the driver secure while alowing him to look out the no doors.

Also I recieved the Rock Krawler 3.5 X-Factor Plus kit (retail $1899-pm me for a special price) from the UPS santa, yesterday and am currently on the install. will post the step by step pics for you when I get the kit on.

Also on monday I will be doing the modifications to the front bumper (MORE Stubby $654.99- pm for special pricing) to fit a roadmaster blackhawk 2 tow bar. The mods will be clean, and most important not kill the aproach angle. Afterwords I will have a smooth metallic silver powdercoat finish it off

and most importantly, I will include the time it takes to do this and the amount of cash each component and install will cost, so if any of you plan on doing a build like this you can plan ahead both time and money.

Wow, the tube work is sweet. Love the speaker pods. Did you build those? Glad to see you're coming back home.

Very nice!

I have a friend that flat tows his Rubicon behind his RV as well, but is looking for a better way to do it - something that completely removes for off road clearance. Looks like you have it solved!! I sent him that picture...
