Yeah, the Five Hundred name lasted less than a year. I don't know what they were thinking dropping the Taurus name for that. The Taurus has soooo much brand recognition.

I am glad to see them bringing back the SHO. This one looks like it'll have some power. The last generation of SHO's with the small V8 were pretty ghetto. The early ones (89-95) with the Yamaha V6 were the ultimate sleeper. They didn't have a lot of badging to indicate they were the SHO model and few people knew what an SHO Taurus was.

Ahh, there was nothing like dropping the hammer at a red light against some unsuspecting ricer and then winding that sucker up to 8000 rpm. I loved hearing the intake switch runners. That Yamahammer V6 had one heck of a flat torque curve. It pulled hard from 3k all the way to the 8k redline.

I miss mine. Motor parts were getting really expensive, so I sold it before I blew the engine and it became worthless. It had 150k on it, but still pulled hard. $1700 engine gasket sets and $90 valve cover bolts were a little much.

I got into a bit of a race in Provo against a Lotus Elise. He could easily out-handle me, but I could hold my own in the straights. My kid was sleeping in the back seat, so I couldn't get too crazy.

Ok, that's enough Taurus sentimentalism.

I quite like it, kinda has a nice Holden look to it (well, front end at least) without the crummy Pontiac badge.
