Six gears definitely offers a way better sweet spot over the 4spd; not over-reving and then lugging down all the time. The buttons on the shift lever let you lock out gears all the way down to 1st which also gives you an advantage when decending with a load as well. The only v-10 I drove was a U-Haul so I really can't make a comparison there except that the V-10 blew out a spark plug the same as the 5.4 Superduty I owned previous to this truck. This 6.2 is such an improvment over the previous modular design and I can tell you the torque is there in spades. If your looking to tow all the time, go diesel; if it's just occasionally, this truck will get it done and save you a heap of maintenance costs, front end rebuilds, tires, etc... I have to say it sounds good too! I never cared for the sound of Ford gas engines, but this one will make you wanna get on it!
